North Charleston Arts Fest Reveals 2017 Design Competition Winner

2/2/2017: "Scraping the Sky II," an oil painting by Charleston artist Judy McSween has been selected as the winner of the 2017 North Charleston Arts Fest Design Competition. The painting will be used to promote the 2017 North Charleston Arts Fest, taking place May 3-7.

North Charleston City Gallery to Exhibit Works by The Goose Creek Artists Guild

1/24/2017: Works by members of the Goose Creek Artists Guild will be on view at the North Charleston City gallery Feb 2-25, 2017. A free reception will be held at the gallery on Thursday, February 2, from 5:00-7:00pm. Many of the exhibiting artists will be present and refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend.

North Charleston Presents Children’s Theatre Performance in honor of Black History Month

1/18/2017: Bright Star Touring Theatre will present "Struggle for Freedom: The Life of Dr. King" as part of the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department's Children's Theatre Series on Friday, February 3, 2017, at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $2 per child with accompanying adults admitted at no charge. Parking is free.

North Charleston Dinner Theatre feels the love on February 10

1/17/2017: The North Charleston Cultural Arts Department is set to host a dinner theatre performance of "To North Charleston, With Love," presented by Gracie & Lacy, at Montague Terrace on Friday, February 10, 2017. Tickets are on sale until Tuesday, February 7. Call 843-740-5847.

North Charleston to Host Free MLK Jr. Tribute Concert with Lowcountry Voices on January 14

1/9/2017: The City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department is proud to sponsor a free evening concert by the popular and internationally acclaimed Lowcountry Voices on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 5:00pm. "Healing: The Promise of Martin Luther King’s Legacy" is free, but advance tickets are required. Tickets are available for pick up from the North Charleston Cultural Arts Department office on the second floor of North Charleston City Hall, located at 2500 City Hall Lane, North Charleston, SC 29406, as well as St. Matthew Baptist Church, located at 2005 Reynolds Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405. Patrons may also email TicketsLowcountryVoices@aol.com by Friday, January 13, to have tickets held at will call. Unclaimed seats will be available to non-ticket holders 15 minutes prior to concert time.

Entries Sought for 2017 Statewide Juried Fine Craft Competition & Exhibition

12/15/2016: Entries are now being accepted for the 2017 SC Palmetto Hands Fine Craft Competition. As the state’s only dedicated fine craft competition and exhibition, objects juried into the show may compete for cash prizes totaling up to $6500. Deadline for entries is Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Entries Sought for 12th Annual National Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition

12/1/2016: Entries are now being accepted for the 2017/18 National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition. Sculpture artists from across the nation are invited to submit works and compete for a freat exhibition opportunity and cash prizes. The applications is available at northcharlestonculturalartsdepartment.slideroom.com. An application fee of $35 allows artists to submit up to four entries. Deadline for submissions is Saturday, February 25, 2017.
