We proudly announce that Officers Andrew Connolly and Andrew Macchia are the “Officers of the Month” for March 2024 for their heroic actions.
These two officers responded to a call regarding a possible mental health episode on Remount Road and Rivers Ave. Upon arriving at the scene, the suspect pulled out a firearm and began waving it around. Officers Connolly and Macchia quickly assessed the situation and took cover without hesitation.
They immediately ordered civilians in the area to evacuate to ensure their safety.
The officers’ bravery and quick thinking didn’t stop there. They gave the suspect clear and concise verbal commands to drop the weapon and lie down, which he promptly obeyed. Thanks to their actions, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Upon further investigation, the suspect was found to have two firearms and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition. This situation could have ended tragically, but the swift actions of Officers Connolly and Macchia saved countless lives. We are grateful for the bravery and dedication of our officers, who risk their lives daily to protect our community.
