Plogging

What is plogging?

Plogging is the combination of picking up litter while jogging. The activity first started in 2016 and is a great way for individuals to keep their community clean while staying active.

Thank you to our program sponsors for making this program possible:

  • The City of North Charleston
  • PalmettoPride
  • Keep South Carolina Beautiful
  • Keep America Beautiful
  • ArcMate

How does the program work?

Follow the steps below to register for a plogging kit from KNCB. Once you pick up your plogging kit, you may use it to complete a plogging activity anywhere on public property within the City of North Charleston.

There will be a post-event form for you to submit after your plogging activity is complete. Remember to keep track of how many miles you plogged and how many bags of litter you picked up. If possible, have someone take photos of you while plogging to submit with your report. Our sponsors and the community will enjoy seeing these photos on social media.

After your event, be sure to properly dispose of any litter you have picked up.

Any extra supplies leftover from your plogging activities are yours to keep and do not need to be returned. You may use them during your next plogging activity.

PLEASE NOTE: KNCB staff are not on-site for plogging activities that are completed independently, and as such, staff cannot verify or sign off on volunteer or community service hours completed during these independent cleanups.

What is included in a plogging kit?

KNCB must receive your post-event report before you can request another set of cleanup supplies. These reports are crucial in determining the impact of your efforts on a local, state, and national level. They help Keep America Beautiful, Keep South Carolina Beautiful, and the KNCB office to secure the sponsors needed to provide volunteer groups with free supplies.
