Due to building occupancy restrictions in response to COVID-19, we have had to make the difficult decision to reduce the number of camp locations (from 19 down to 13) AND drastically reduce the number of campers at each location. In doing so, we have significantly decreased the total number of campers that we can have participate with us this summer.
We fully anticipate demand for our Summer Camp program to outnumber the spaces we have available. In an effort to be fair to all who are interested (and to prevent a long line of anxious parents lined up outside our office/centers), we are changing our “in-person” registration process.
If you would like for your child to participate in our Summer Camp program, please complete our Summer Camp Lottery Entry form. You will need to list all of your children on a single form. You will also list your preferences for the camp location(s) that you wish for your child(ren) to attend. All forms must be received by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Completed forms may be submitted in-person at the Recreation Office at City Hall or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will select campers at random from the pool of applicants and place them in a camp location based on the availability of their preferred camps. We will begin contacting parents to let them know of their placement on Friday, May 29, 2020. Parents will then have until Friday, June 5 to submit their payment and complete the full registration paperwork.
What if I registered online?
If your child(ren) is already enrolled through our online registration portal, we simply need you to make payment for camp fees by Friday, June 5. Recreation staff will be contacting you soon to provide all necessary information.
What if my child(ren) are on the waiting list?
If your child(ren) are on the online waiting list, we will continue fill any spaces vacated by online registrants with children from that waiting list. However, if you want to have an opportunity to fill any of the reserved “in-person” spaces, you will need to complete the Summer Camp Lottery Entry form.
If you have any other questions regarding the Summer Camp program, please contact our office at (843)740-5809.
The NCRD hosts an exciting summer camp from June 15-August 7, 2020. Camp runs Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm. The camp provides a safe and secure environment and offers the opportunity for children to have fun during the summer. Children enjoy a variety of activities including arts and crafts, games, sports, swimming, cultural art center visits and special surprises.
Each camper receives a colorful camp shirt and is required to wear this shirt on field trips. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Registration is offered at Armory Park, City Hall, Felix Pinckney, Gethsemani, Jeanene Batten, Northwoods Park, Park Circle, Thomas Evans, Sr., Perry-Webb and Miner Crosby. Parent or guardian must be present. The following items are required at the time of registration: valid SC driver’s license, camper’s birth certificate, and current utility bill. Register online at recreation.northcharleston.org. For more information, contact Allyson All at (843) 740-5807 or email email@example.com.
Summer Camp Registration
- Open online Summer Camp registration on May 1 for all nineteen (19) camp locations.
- No registration fees to be charged at this point in time due to uncertainty of start date and final registration fee.
- Online registration to be capped at 75% capacity for each site to ensure we have space available for those who may not have access to internet/computer. Once capacity is met, the remaining folks will be placed on a wait list.
- Once offices reopen, those registered online will have one (1) week to come in and submit payment. Failure to do so by the end of that week will result in forfeiting reservation. If any spaces are vacated, we will go to the first person on the waitlist.
