Camps & Children’s Programs

North Charleston Recreation Department offers a wonderful selection of Children’s Programs available to the community.

Some programs require a registration application and registration fee while others may not. Please note this listed under each program. CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED AT REGISTRATION; only checks, money orders or cashier checks.

For Children’s Programs, registration locations are dependent upon each program. Please refer to the details of each program or contact your local community center for registration.

SUMMER CAMP

Ages: 5–12, (children must turn 5 before May 31 and cannot turn 13 before May 31)

Registration: May 15, 2021 – May 26, 2021
Registration fee: $325 (North Charleston residents ONLY)

Dates: June 21st – August 6th

Times: 8:00am-5:00pm

 

The NCRD hosts an exciting summer camp from June 21-August 6, 2021.  Camp runs Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.  The camp provides a safe and secure environment and offers the opportunity for children to have fun during the summer.  Children enjoy a variety of activities including arts and crafts, games, sports, and much more.  Each camper receives a colorful camp shirt.  Breakfast and lunch are provided.

If you would like for your child to participate in our Summer Camp program, please complete our Summer Camp Lottery Entry form.  You will need to list all of your children on a single form.  You will also list your preferences for the camp location(s) that you wish for your child(ren) to attend.  All forms must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday, March 26, 2021.  Completed forms may be submitted in-person at the Recreation Office at City Hall or via email to aall@northcharleston.org.  We will select campers at random from the pool of applicants and place them in a camp location based on the availability of their preferred camps.  If your child(ren) is chosen, parents will receive notification by Friday, April 2, 2021.  Parents will then have until Friday, April 16th to submit their payment and complete the full registration online. Parent or guardian must register and have the camper’s birth certificate and current utility bill at the time of registration.

ACTIVITY & PLAY DAY

7:30am-5:30pm • Various CCSD Holidays
Ages: 5–12
Registration: Continuous
Registration fee: Residents, $7; Non-Residents, $12

Activity & Play Day is offered during most school holidays, to provide a safe haven for children while parents are working. Children will be entertained with a variety of activities throughout the day. Participants must bring a bag lunch, drink, and snack. Please register early as space is limited.


AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

Ages: 5–12

The North Charleston after school program is designed to keep your child motivated and active after school while providing quality supervision and guidance.

We focus on academic enrichment and recreational activities designed to teach your child valuable leadership and life skills they can use in their everyday decision making processes.

Commitment, responsibility, socialization, creativity and physical activity are the key components of the program which ensures that children are on track to become productive citizens of society.


CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL

Ages: Pre-school-2nd grade
Registration: Begins January 14
Registration fee: Free
Location(s): Park Circle

Held on the first Friday in May from 9:00 am-1:00 pm, the Children’s Festival is a major part of the annual North Charleston Arts Festival. Children are encouraged to dress in weather appropriate, comfortable clothes as activities will be held outdoors.

WINTER WONDERLAND

Date: Tentatively December 5 • 9:00am-2:00pm

Ages: Pre-school-2nd grade
Registration: Month of October
Registration fee: Free
Location(s): North Charleston Convention Center

Children are invited to come enter the North Pole to visit Santa Claus. Santa’s elves are on hand to lead children through several fun stops including a music room, arts and crafts, dancing and more. The children will also have a chance to see Santa and take a group Christmas photo.
