Lap Swim/Open Swim at Danny Jones Pool, 1455 Monitor St., until June 5, 2020:
- 7 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday to Friday
- 7:15-8:15 p.m., Monday to Thursday
- 10 a.m.-4 p.m. – Saturday
- Closed – Sunday
There will also be 2-4 lap lanes available during these hours. After 3 p.m. weekdays, the Danny Jones pool will be set up for short course lanes.
NOTE: The pool will be closed on Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Admission is $1 per day at Danny Jones, Felix Pinckney, Collins Park and Northwoods Pools.
DAILY GROUP RATES
We welcome outside organizations and groups to our facility during open/lap swim. Outside organizations/groups bringing 6 or more individuals should contact the facility ahead of time for costs and lane space availability. All visiting outside groups must maintain an adult to child ration of 5:1 at all times for safety reasons.

Aquatic exercise is a great way to achieve a well-balanced and complete workout. Shallow water routines can increase cardiovascular endurance, strengthen muscles and improve coordination. These class, performed 2-3 times a week, will help you achieve a healthier lifestyle and can help decrease the stress of everyday living.

YOUTH SWIM TEAM
Information about the City of North Charleston youth swim team can be found at www.watermocs.com.
You can find information about fees, pool location, practice times, coaches, age(s), equipment needed, meet schedule and much more. The minimum age is 6 years old and kids must be able to swim a minimum of 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke to be considered for the team for safety and competitive reasons. Practice started in September but athletes can join throughout the year.
SWIMMING POOL RENTALS
The Department rents the Danny Jones swimming pools for private parties. Rentals are permitted on a space available basis and reservations can be made at the Armory at (843) 745-1032. No alcoholic beverages or loud or lewd music will be permitted and all other City pool rules apply during rentals.
For private lessons at Danny Jones Pool, contact Brenda Rindge at 843-745-1028 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Private lessons are $30/30 minutes for one child and are available weekdays until 4 p.m. and Saturday mornings.
Group lessons will be held starting in June at the North Charleston Aquatic Center, and Danny Jones and Northwoods pools. Information to come.
AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARDING CLASSES
- March 16-28

- Deadline to register: One week before the start of class.
Classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays at the Danny Jones Pool or North Charleston Aquatic Center (location to be determined). Participants must be 15 years old by the first day of class.
REGISTER SOON! WE EXPECT THESE CLASSES TO FILL! Register at Armory Park, 5000 Lackawanna Blvd. (across from Danny Jones Pool). The cost is $100, payable by check or money order.
Are you 15 or older and looking for a great job or a challenging career? North Charleston is currently accepting applications for summer lifeguards at our two indoor and three outdoor pools. In addition, we are accepting applications for year-round lifeguards at the new North Charleston Aquatic Center.

Starting pay is $12.68/hour and employees can work up to 40 hours per week during the summer season.
Orientation will be held during the last two weeks of May. All five pools open for the summer on Saturday, May 23.
- All swimmers must wear a bathing suit
- No cut-offs are allowed
- T-shirts, if worn, must be white or gray
- All swimmers must shower before swimming
- Persons with open lesions or wounds are not permitted in pool
- Persons with diarrheal sickness or nausea should not enter the pool
- Persons with skin, eye or respiratory infections should not enter the pool
- Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed in the pool
- No solo swimming permitted
- No running on pool deck
- No diving allowed
- No horseplay
- No glass in pool area
- Under 2 yrs old must wear swimming diapers.
- All children under the age of 13 must be supervised by a parent, or relative, over the age of 18 during all recreational swim hours and pool rentals. There are no exceptions to this rule.
