Public Notice for NCPD Re-accreditation

The North Charleston Police Department is scheduled for a re-accreditation on on-site assessment November 15th – 18th, 2015, as part of their process to achieve accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).  The accreditation program requires the Police Department to comply with 487 state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas:  policies and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As part of the on-site assessment, department employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a Public Information Session on Tuesday, November 17th, 2015, at 6:00 PM.  The session will be held in the City Council chambers, 3rd Floor at North Charleston City Hall, located at 2500 City Hall Lane, North Charleston, SC.

Department employees and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling (843) 740-2819 on Tuesday, November 17th between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the Public Information Session, are limited to 10 minutes and must address the department’s ability to comply with CALEA standards.  Copies of the standards are available at the North Charleston Police Department.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the North Charleston Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards of accreditation may send them to:
