Our History: Women’s Army Corps 75th anniversary

This week marks the 75th anniversary of the 1942 founding of the Women’s Army Corps.  During WWII 150,000 women served and freed up the equivalent of seven divisions of men for other military purposes.  The picture here is of a re-enlistment ceremony held 2 Aug 1943 at the 111th WAC Detachment Post Headquarters at the Charleston Port of Embarkation.
