The City of North Charleston’s Cultural Arts Department is pleased to offer a Children’s Theatre performance at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center from 10:00-11:00am on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, featuring Super Me: The Anti-Bullying Show performed by The Story Ship. The program is best appreciated by audiences in grades preK-5. Schools, daycares, community groups, families, and individuals are welcome to attend. Tickets are $2 per child with accompanying adults admitted at no charge. Parking is free.
Super Me is a fast-paced theatrical adventure that combines high-energy hip-hop dance, intense video gaming, astounding magic, interactive animation, and a live actor. Audience members are taken on a virtual journey into a comic book world to help a young boy escape from bullies. The audience must help the boy overcome obstacles and solve puzzles using super powers, like super human strength, x-ray vision, telekinesis, and aquakinesis. Kids are taught a hip-hop dance based on the Super Me theme music and must perform the dance to move to the next level of the Super Me training program. The production demonstrates real life examples of bullying and clear, step-by-step actions on ways to stop bullying.
The Story Ship has thrilled audiences with educational workshops and performances of interactive animation, music, storytelling, theater, comedy, and magic since 1999. This unique combination makes their programs truly original. The Story Ship artists perform regularly throughout the United States in theaters, schools, libraries, resorts, after school programs, and festival settings. Each show focuses on national standards for subject areas such as math, language arts, reading, social studies, character education, and music. Information about all of their interactive shows, including study guides, is available online at www.storyship.com.
