North Charleston and Redux Contemporary Art Center partner for 3rd annual exhibition

The City of North Charleston’s Cultural Arts Department is pleased to announce that the North Charleston City Gallery will host the Third Annual Redux Contemporary Art Center Studio Artists Exhibition throughout the month of October. The public is invited to attend a free reception at the gallery hosted by the participating artists on Thursday, October 2, from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

The group exhibition will feature an array of paintings, prints, and mixed media pieces by artists currently participating in the studio program at Redux Contemporary Art Center in downtown Charleston. The program offers emerging and mid-career artists full access to professional artist studios in an effort to grow and expand the contemporary art community in the area. This year’s exhibit boasts the largest number of participants to date, highlighting works by Todd Anderson, Mariah Channing, Morgan Cole, Teil Duncan, Chloe Gilstrap, Camela Guevara, Alizey Khan, Kate MacNeil, India McElroy, Paula McInerny, Raven Roxanne, Jane Ann Sweeny, Lulie Wallace, and Trever Webster.

“The Redux family is active and engaged, and we are thrilled to be showcasing what our talented studio artists are producing within these walls every day,” says Stacy Huggins, Executive Director of Redux Contemporary Arts Center.  “Our region continues to embrace and develop meaningful support for the arts and opportunities for artists.  We are very excited by the continued growth and thankful to North Charleston, who have been actively cultivating and improving their diverse programming for some time,” she adds. Redux is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays each week with no admission fee to view exhibitions, and open studio events are held regularly. However, Huggins recognizes that the center’s downtown Charleston location is not always convenient or accessible to everyone.  “We love the opportunity to get our artists and their work out into the community as often as we can, and North Charleston continues to be a wonderful, supportive partner,” she says.

The third annual Redux Contemporary Art Center Studio Artists Exhibition will be on display at the North Charleston City Gallery from October 2-31, 2014. The gallery space is situated in the common areas of the Charleston Area Convention Center, located at 5001 Coliseum Drive in North Charleston. Parking and admission are free during regular Convention Center operating hours, 9:00am – 5:00pm daily.  The gallery is staffed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday only.   Inquiries regarding the artists or purchase information may be directed to the North Charleston Cultural Arts Department at (843) 740-5854.
