NCPD officer saves toddler who fell from moving vehicle

Pfc. Jason Marzan’s quick actions saved a toddler who fell from a moving vehicle last week. On October 10, Officer Marzan responded to the call on the I-26 exit ramp eastbound on University Blvd. When he reached the child, Officer Marzan noticed the two-year-old girl’s right arm had been amputated. He quickly applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. The officer says doctors at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital were able to reattach the arm and that the child is getting sensation back. Officer Marzan also gave credit to an airman from Shaw Air Force Base who stopped behind the vehicle to block traffic and communicated with the child before first responders arrived. Great job by all involved!
