NCPD officer awarded for saving man who threatened to jump off overpass

Please join NCPD in congratulating M.P.O. Michael Cook, the recipient of our agency’s “Life Saving Award” for November, 2021. On November 12, M.P.O. Cook responded to the Ashley Phosphate Road overpass to I-26 for a report of a jumper. When Officer Cook got to the scene, he saw a man with one leg over the railing. Another person at the scene said the man was going to jump. Officer Cook was able to grab the man and pull him back over the railing. This recognition speaks highly of M.P.O. Cook’s character and performance as a member of the North Charleston Police Department. Great job sir! #ToServeAndProtect
