NCPD mourns the passing of Carlos Dunlap Sr.

The North Charleston Police Department mourns the passing of Mr. Carlos Dunlap Sr. Mr. Dunlap was dedicated to the uplifting of all people, especially the youth. Mr. Dunlap, Carlos Jr., Mrs. Diane, Michael and Bianca brought the first professional NFL style football/cheer camp to the City of North Charleston. Carlos understood the need to develop a positive relationship between law enforcement and the community.
The Carlos Dunlap Foundation/NCPD/ Bowie State Alumni/ the Walter Scott family provided free cold turkeys and a hot meal with fixings annually at “The Day of Thanksgiving.” The Carlos Dunlap Foundation also provided a free $200 gift card to 65 school age children at NCPD’s annual “Kids and Cop” shopping spree at the North Charleston Walmart.
Carlos Dunlap Sr. was a pillar in the North Charleston community and a personal role model to his friend Chief Reggie Burgess. He will be missed by all of us.
