The NCPD Harbor Patrol Unit will be at the W.O. Thomas Jr. Boat Landing on Bridgeview Drive this Saturday and also on July 31, from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m., offering courtesy boat safety checks and to emphasize “The Boating Safety Seven.” Officers will be available to answer recreational boating questions and check for required safety equipment before you you put your boat in the water. The U.S. Coast Guard reports 25.1% increase in recreational boating fatalities nationwide from 2019 to 2020. Additionally, there was a 26.3% increase in boating accidents and a 24.7% increase in non-fatal injuries during the same time period.
