Please join NCPD in congratulating Major Michael W. Aiken II on completing the Senior Management Institute For Police program (S.M.I.P.) at Boston University. Major Aiken successfully completed the three-week course on Friday, July 28, 2023 and was a member of the SMIP 89th graduating class. The knowledge and expertise gained will benefit the communities we serve and internally within our agency.
SMIP is a program of the Police Executive Research Forum which provides senior-level police executives with extensive training and discussion of the most challenging issues facing law enforcement executives, such as recruitment and retention, the growing opioid crisis, homelessness, and high violent crime rates. SMIP also provides participants a clear understanding of general management theory, policy development, planning processes, and organizational behavior.
