Lowcountry’s largest business expo to showcase over 200 businesses and organizations

The Lowcountry’s largest business to business event, the North Charleston Business Expo, is set to showcase over 200 area companies and organizations on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Charleston Area Convention Center.  The event remains free of charge for all attendees.  Now in its fifth year, the annual Business Expo offers the business community, from small business entrepreneurs to companies of all sizes, an opportunity to network with local professionals, engage with exhibitors, and discover resources for business growth. And, this year, the Expo has added several new “Featured Areas” to enhance the event.

In addition to the 200+ showcased businesses, owners and managers have the opportunity to seek advice from several specialized small business resource agencies. Also, procurement departments from nearly twenty government entities will be assembled for concentrated access to purchasing agents.  Small business owners will have the opportunity to showcase their goods and services to local, state, and federal government contracting agents. No other event in the Lowcountry offers such ready access to these hard to reach individuals.

A few of the participants include SPAWAR, City of North Charleston, City of Charleston, Charleston County Government, Dorchester County, Charleston Water Systems, and more.

A new featured area this year includes the Nonprofit Pavilion – Sponsored by Parker Land Surveying. Nonprofits are vital to the success of any region. In the Lowcountry, we’re blessed with a robust nonprofit community. Our Nonprofit Pavilion will feature 20 local Nonprofits. Be sure to stop by and learn more about their impact on the community and how you can get involved.

Our final new featured area is the Career Opportunity Center brought to you by Charleston County Economic Development. Workforce development is critically important to the business community. And, as our community continues to enjoy economic growth, many employers are looking for qualified employees. Stop by and meet these employers and discover available job openings and training opportunities to advance your career.

To kick off the Expo with a thought-provoking panel discussion, the Charleston Regional Business Journal will host the region’s mayors, including Mayors Keith Summey, John Tecklenburg, Will Haynie, Wiley Johnson, and Greg Habib, as part of the 2019 Power Series. The panel will discuss transportation, development, affordable housing, education, and our talent pipeline.  Registration is required for a luncheon ticket. Lunch is scheduled from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

A networking reception will immediately follow the Business Expo from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and offers an additional opportunity to interact with business representatives and entrepreneurs, as well as expo attendees in a relaxed environment.

“North Charleston is perfect place to host the Lowcountry’s largest B2B event,” said North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey.  “As the economic powerhouse of the State of South Carolina, the North Charleston Business Expo goes hand-in-hand with our commitment to remain a business-friendly community and a city which fosters an environment ripe for businesses growth.”
