May 1, 1973 which was Law Enforcement Day in South Carolina, NCPD took over patrol operations from the now defunct Charleston County Police. Our officers had to affix the door decals to the new patrol cars before rolling out on their shift. Retired Sgt Major Jerry Ginn (1938-2019) led that first squad of officers on the street that day. Fifty years later our agency is still going strong!
