Councilman Dwight Stigler resigns from post

After nearly four years of serving the North Charleston residents of District 9, Councilman Dwight Stigler will step down from his seat on September 4, 2015 to accept a job outside of North Charleston.

In an email notifying North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey and Council Members, Councilman Stigler wrote:

I have thoroughly enjoyed the honor and privilege to work together with you to serve my constituents and the city at large.

My family is also equally grateful for this experience. They have had the opportunity to be close to public service as a result of my election to office. They have supported me graciously in this sacrifice to family time.

We are now excited to start a new chapter in our family history, and we will both cherish and miss our time spent with each of you, as well as our citizens in the North Charleston community.

Public service is the highest calling. May God bless each of you and your families.

The District 9 Council seat will remain unfilled until after North Charleston’s General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.
