The North Charleston Police Department and the Latino Community welcomed our first group of Pre-Certified Officers hired from Puerto Rico at the Midland Park Community Center last night. We are excited to have Jesus Velez-Peña, Jesus Rivera and Emmanuel Cruz Rivera join our agency. This is a historic recruitment effort by our agency, as we continue to build relationships with Puerto Rico and our Latino community in North Charleston. These officers bring years of police experience and are looking forward to an exciting career with the North Charleston Police Department. The North Charleston Police Recruitment Unit is still processing applications from our recruitment efforts in Puerto Rico and another group of certified officers is flying in next week for testing.
