Butterfly Garden

The Park Circle Butterfly Garden is conveniently located on the grounds of the Felix C. Davis Community Center in the center of Park Circle in North Charleston.  This garden is home to more than 75 different plants that attract butterflies.  There are several picnic tables and benches for you to enjoy your lunch or just take a break.

This garden serves as an educational garden for the community to learn about the types of plants that thrive in the area.  The "Plant List" link to the right lists just some of the beautiul plants in this garden that attract butterflies to the North Charleston area.

Additionally, Keep North Charleston Beautiful offers field trips to preschools during the months of September and October.  These are the months that you will find the highest concentration of butterflies in the garden.  If you are interested in learning more about the field trips, click the "Field Trips" link to the right.

Currently we have three Flowerscape sponsors who are responsible for maintaining the garden once a month - the SC Stingrays, Paul Mitchell the School Charleston, and the College of Charleston Honors Student Association.

If you are interested in becoming a Flowerscape sponsor (we are currently looking for one more) or would like to learn more about the garden, please send us an email to beautification@northcharleston.org.

Field Trips

Keep North Charleston Beautiful is excited to announce a new opportunity open to all preschool students in North Charleston.  During the months of September and October, we would like to invite preschool classes to visit the Park Circle Butterfly Garden for an educational program created and presented by KNCB volunteers.  This 30-minute program includes a tour of the garden and an interactive reading of The Butterfly Garden by Sue Harris.  Students will then have the opportunity to plant their own zinnia seed to take home with them.

Field trips may be scheduled during the months of September and October on Thursdays from 9am - 12pm.  The butterfly garden is located on the grounds of the Felix C. Davis Community Center in the center of Park Circle.  This garden is home to more than 75 different plants that attract butterflies.  There are picnic areas available around Park Circle for you to enjoy your lunch after the program.

These field trips are offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of KNCB's volunteers.  If you would like to schedule a field trip, or if you have any questions, please call us at 843-745-1073 or email beautification@northcharleston.org.  Please call as soon as possible as tours will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis.  We look forward to seeing you!

The butterflies are waiting!...
