Dinner Theatre Series

The Cultural Arts Department hosts a Dinner Theatre series for adults, with presentations in September, November, January, and March. The series has proven to be a popular program for couples and groups. Guests are served a candlelit dinner at 7:00pm, then sit back to watch lively programs by professional performers while enjoying dessert and tea/coffee. All programs are scheduled to take place on Friday evenings in a ballroom setting at the Charleston Area Convention Center Complex.

Children’s Theatre Series

Tri-county schools, daycares, and families are welcome to enjoy the exciting presentations in our Children’s Theatre series, featuring local and touring theatre troupes, dance groups, storytellers, and more. Performances take place in November, February, and March or April. A special Summer Children’s Theatre series is presented in June. Performances are scheduled to take place in the Sterett Hall Auditorium on the former Charleston Naval Base on Friday mornings at 10:00am and last for approximately one hour.  Groups may bring sack lunches to enjoy after the performance at North Charleston Riverfront Park, which is just around the corner.



Special Concerts

Concert – 1965: A Martin Luther King, Jr., Reflection Tribute Performance
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra Gospel Choir and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Spiritual Ensemble, under the direction of Jason Ikeem Rodgers, will perform an inspirational concert as a tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Tickets (limit 4) can be picked at the North Charleston Cultural Arts Department office at North Charleston City Hall (2500 City Hall Lane), the Main Charleston Co. Library (68 Calhoun Street), or Cathedral of Praise (3790 Ashley Phosphate Rd.).

Jazz Concert - USAF Heritage of America Band Rhythm in Blue
Enjoy an evening concert with the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band’s Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble from Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia. Rhythm in Blue features the diverse talents of 17 professional musicians whose commitment to excellence has earned worldwide acclaim and military distinction. The band incorporates a wide repertoire of jazz and fusion, from big band swing to cutting-edge contemporary music. The concert is free, but general admission tickets are required. For tickets (limit 6), send a self-addressed stamped envelope with request to:   Tickets/ City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department/ P.O. Box 190016, North Charleston, SC 29419-9016.  Tickets may also be obtained from the Cultural Arts Department office located on the 2nd floor of North Charleston City hall (2500 City Hall Lane, North Charleston, SC 29405). Ticket holders must be seated 15 minutes before the concert.  Unclaimed seats will be released to non-ticket holders at that time.

North Charleston Farmers Market Concerts

The 2014 North Charleston Farmers Market opens April 17 and takes place every Thursday through October 30 on the grounds of the Felix Davis Community Center at 4800 Park Circle. The market offers an abundance of fresh, locally grown produce, and features art & craft booths, food vendors, and entertainment. Enjoy live music every 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Thursday. The market is open from 12:00pm to 7:00pm; concerts take place from 4:00-6:00pm unless otherwise noted.

Musicians interested in performing may submit a proposal to be considered for a slot during the 2014 North Charleston Farmers Market. Proposal forms are available on the Applications & Registration Forms page.
