Teens Aiding the Community (TAC) Camp

North Charleston Fire Department is hosting the first ever Teens Aiding the Community (TAC) Camp from June 8, 2022 thru August 17, 2022, meeting every Wednesday from 10:00am – 2:00pm. This summer-camp style program will provide education and certification in a variety of medical, fire safety and emergency response topics from local firefighters and other emergency responders. The goal of the camp is to empower teens with skills and tools to aid their local community in emergency situations.

When: Every Wednesday starting June 8th, 2022 and ending Aug 17th, 2022

Time: 10am – 2pm

Where: Midland Park Community Center (2429 Midland Park Rd)

Who:  Local teens age 13- 17; preferably high school students

Cost: FREE with food and drinks provided

DETAILS

This summer-camp style program is designed to provide education and certification in a variety of medical, fire safety and emergency response topics including:

  • Certification in American Red Cross Basic First Aid
  • Certification in American Red Cross Adult, Child & Infant CPR and AED use
  • Certification in American Red Cross Babysitter Basics
  • Certification in FEMA’s Teen Community Emergency Response Team
  • Fire extinguisher training
  • Smoke alarm education
  • Home escape plan training
  • Fire hazards in the home training

Each participant will receive the following items:

  • Camp t-shirt
  • Backpack
  • Notebook
  • Pens/pencils
  • Hard Hat
  • Safety Vest
  • Safety Glasses
  • Flashlight
  • Surgical masks
  • Basic medical supply bag
  • American Heart Association Basic First Aid Student Manual
  • American Heart Association Adult, Child & Infant CPR and AED Use Student Manual
  • American Heart Association Babysitter Basics Student Manual
  • FEMA’s Teen Community Emergency Response Team Student Manual

The camp will end with a  graduation, presentation of skills, and refreshments for the whole family.
