Redistricting of City Council Districts

The North Charleston City Council Committee of the Whole will conduct a hearing to receive input from the public regarding proposed changes to the City Council districts to reflect the population and demographic information compiled and released as part of the 2020 Decennial Census. This process of redrawing the district boundaries to reflect population shifts occurring since the last Census count is referred to as redistricting and is required by the United States Constitution, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended, and other federal and state laws and regulations.
