Adult Sports

Adult Athletics are provided for residents of the Lowcountry throughout the year. Many programs are offered in conjunction with Charleston Sports and Social Club. Together, we provide a wide variety of leagues that you are sure to enjoy and make new friends.

Men’s Basketball

Registration Deadline: 2nd Friday in September
Season Begins: First Sunday in October
Registration Fee: $475 per team
Location(s): The North Charleston Athletic Center

The Men’s Basketball league is played in the fall each year. Games are played on Sundays. A maximum of ten teams are accepted each season. Individual registration is not accepted. Free agents will be placed. Names will be provided to teams looking for players. Free agents are not guaranteed to be placed on a team. Basketball Open Gym

Open Gym for basketball is held at the North Charleston Athletic Center and Ferndale Community Center. Open gym times vary by  month and day of the week. Please contact the below numbers for the most up to date offerings. To participate in Open Gym, you must provide a photo ID.

Disc Golf 

The Disc Golf course is located on the outer eight islands of historic Park Circle. Open play is schedule for Monday–Sunday from daylight to dark. If interested in playing Doubles, meet at the #6 Tee on Tuesdays at 4:30pm.

Kickball, Flag Football, Co-Ed  Softball, Volleyball, Co-Ed Basketball

Kickball, Flag Football, Co-Ed Softball and Co-Ed Softball are offered in conjunction with Charleston Sports and Social Club. These leagues are offered four seasons yearly. All leagues are co-ed. Volleyball is played on Monday nights; Flag Football is played on Monday nights; Kickball plays Thursday nights; Co-Ed Softball is played on Sundays. Senior Pickleball

Seniors, join us for the fastest growing sport in the country. If you age 50+, visit us at the North Charleston Athletic Center and take part in this exciting game. Pickleball at the Athletic Center is a great way to exercise and make new friends. The open play times for Pickleball change each month and day.

Team Tennis

The Recreation Department’s Team Tennis program offers a variety of levels of competition at Collins Park Tennis Center. Matches are played against other programs around the Lowcountry. For information, please contact Glenn Cobb at (843)810-1451 after 5:00pm.

Tennis Lessons

Tennis lessons are offered by the Recreation Department and are provided for groups and individuals. Lessons are offered by Head Tennis Professional Glenn Cobb for all levels of play. Lessons are held at the Collins Park Tennis Center.
