City Unveils "Project Free Entry" to Aid Stranded Motorists

Today, Mayor R. Keith Summey along with Police Chief Jon R. Zumalt and Deputy Chief David Cheatle unveiled the city’s latest initiative to aide stranded motorists “Project Free Entry”. Alleged Robbery Victim Made up the story
During the investigation of the armed robbery that allegedly occurred at the Charleston Neck & Back Center on Otranto Rd., the victim confessed that she fabricated the incident and there was no robbery. The victim turned suspect, Ashley Greene of St. Ives Rd. is be charged with falsely reporting a robbery. She will face abond judge Friday evening.

New Technology Tracks Stolen License Tags

It sounds like science fiction...but North Charleston's new Plate Scan technology is now a fact, and very effective. Four different infrared cameras, with a 360 degree radius, recording and checking tags and instantly running them through a database. And, as Live 5 News' reporter Tracey Amik reports it's stopping criminals in their tracks.
