Youth Athletics
Youth Baseball and Softball
Games are conducted at multiple locations throughout the month of May with All-Star teams organized by the end of the month and All-Star play beginning in June.
Summer Basketball
Registration for our Summer Basketball League is currently taking place at Northwoods Park, Danny Jones, and Pepperhill Park. Youth ages 9 -17 are able to play organized basketball in a competitive but wholesome environment.
Track & Field
The Hershey National Track and Field State Meet will be held at West Ashley High School on May 17th.
Golf
Registration will be held on May 19th through May 31st for a summer long “Instructional Camp” conducted at various Recreation Center sites. Participants will receive several hours of instructions per week from PGA certified instructors and local volunteers and, will travel to Wescott Country Club to play on an actual golf course!
Middle School Athletics
"Bring the Sound, Snap, Clap and Step"
This Step team competition will be held on May 16, 2008 at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. This event is open to Middle and High Schools, Churches and Community Centers.
Middle School Track Meet
The final Middle School Track meet of the 2007-2008 school year will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Doc Hursey Track on the Danny Jones Complex.

Adult Sports
Adult Basketball
The Men's Adult Basketball league continues play on Saturdays and Sundays at the Danny Jones Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m. Ten teams make up this league. For more information, contact Mike Gillison at (843) 745-1033.

The Recreation Department's Adult Softball Sunday Co-Ed league is underway at MeadWestvaco Park. Games begin at 2:00 p.m. The Women's Church League and the Senior Men's League continue pay Monday - Thursday. For more information call (843) 745-1028 or e-mail cdambaugh@northcharleston.org.
Disc Golf
Disc Golf is played on the outer 8 islands around Park Circle Monday -Sunday from dusk to dawn, continuously. Tuesday night doubles are played beginning at 6:00 pm. Programs
Mini Camp Mini Camps are held on most CCSD holidays. Mini Camps provide a safe alternative for working parents on teacher's workdays and other school holidays.

Camp SumFun Registration
The Summer Camps at Northwood Park, Armory Park and Pepperhill are FULL! Spaces still remain at all other community centers throughout the city. May Activities
Programs and activites are scheduled at all community centers
Each child visiting our community center will have the opportunity to make a Mother's Day Card for their very special Mom.
Arts and Crafts and Double Dutch - Mondays and Wednesdays
Step Team Practice and Track Practice - Tuesdays and Thursdays
Flag Football and Kickball - Wednesdays and Fridays
The children at the Pepperhill Playground will have a Magic Show performed by Hokus Pokus on May 6 at 4:30 pm as part of the 2008 Arts Festival. This event is sponsored by the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department.
Senior Activities
Senior Line Dancing (class registration is continuous)
Each Monday morning at Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle. Class time is 9:30 am - 11:00 am.
Seniorcize This very low impact senior exercise calss meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle. Class time is 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

Annual Events
YOUTH
Pitch, Hit and Run
This program allows young athletes to showcase their individual skills in pitching, hitting and running. Local competition is tentatively schedule during April. All around winners will advance to a sectional competition. Participants must play in local league. Ages 7-8 years; Ages 9-10 years; Ages 11-12 years; Ages 13-14 years.
Girl's Fast Pitch Softball Tournaments
The North Charleston Recreation Department hosts five girl's fast pitch softball tournaments in 2007. These tournaments are sanctioned by the National Softball Association and sponsored by the City of North Charleston. Age divisions offered are 10U, 12U, 14u and 16U. Tournament dates are as follows:
7th Annual Showdown in Carolina - June 6-8, 2008
Back to School Classic - August 9-10, 2008
3rd Annual Atlantic Hurricane Challenge - September 13-14, 2008
Lowcountry Shootout - September 27-28, 2008
3rd Annual Fall Classic on ther Coast - November 1-2, 2008.

The North Charleston Recreation Department sponsors one of the largest Senior Softball Tournaments on the East Coast. Over 35 teams from across the United States take part in this annual event.
