Summer Sun summer camp 2007

from 9 AM - 12 PM
...for children ages 6-12 taught by the City’s Artist-in-Residence, Arianne King Comer.  Children will learn about the indigo dye process and batik as practiced in Africa and South Carolina cultures.  Coupons will be given to students for free Summer Children’s Theatre performances in July.

June 18-22, 2007
from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
 ...for children ages 6-12. This will be taught by Sharon Murray and will be a musical experience covering a variety of instruments and exploring music in the Gullah tradition.   Students will experience music and crafts too in a fun way! Coupons will be given to students for free Summer Children's Theatre performances in July.

July 9-13, 2007
from 9 a.m. -12 p.m.

 

...for children ages 6-12 taught by Adrianne Clark. Students will learn dynamic skills for acting. The camp concludes with a free performance of Summer Children's Theatre with Columbia Children’s Theatre who will perform "Appalachian World Tales" at  Northwoods Community Center at 10 am on July 13.

July 16-20, 2007
from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

 ...for children ages 8-14 taught by Adande Dance Company. Students will learn rhythms and techniques of drumming and dance from African influences. The camp concludes with a free performance of Summer Children's Theatre by Adande at 10 a.m. on July 20 at Sterett Hall in which students from camp will showcase their talents as part of the performance.

paintThe fee for all camps is $50 per week and students can pre-register for any or all camps desired based on availability of slots.  A minimum number of registered students is required for the camps to take place.  Deadline for registration is one week prior to the beginning of the camp.  Register early by calling 745-1087, email culturalarts@northcharleston.org, or click button below to print registration form.  All camps take place at the Rhodes Art Center on the former Charleston Naval Base within the North Charleston Cultural and Civic Center complex.  Visit www.northcharleston.org for more information.
