The City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department offers a public exhibition opportunity for serious Rousseau1visual and fine craft artists in the South Carolina region. The North Charleston City Gallery is located in the common areas of the North Charleston Performing Arts and Charleston Area Convention Center Complex.  This location offers great exposure for artists seeking to reach local patrons and visitors to this multi-use facility.  The Gallery Desk is managed by a Cultural ArtsRousseau2 staff member several days per week for the express purpose of promoting the exhibit and the sale of artwork, prints, notecards, and gift items. For questions regarding the artists or to make purchase arrangements, visitors may also contact the Cultural Arts Department by calling 843-745-1087.

Rousseau3Exhibits are rotated on a monthly basis and may feature two or more artists in the Gallery space each month.  We invite you or your group to submit an application for consideration in this exciting venue.  Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.  A Review Panel will meet in May and November to select exhibits for the upcoming year.  A review on May 30th will select exhibits for January-June.  The November 30th review will select exhibits for July-December.

For more information on any of the above, please feel free to call  our office at 745-1087.

Leslie Pearson
Leslie Pearson uses narrative as a counterpoint to imagery in her allegorical paintings of fruit and vegetable still lifes. The use of text in her work allows an interplay between word and images and acts as an effective vehicle for communicating ideas.
