2015 Camp Sum Fun Registration
Registration for Camp Sum Fun is ongoing!
Camp runs from Thursday, June 11 – Friday, August 7, 2015.
Please register as soon as possible spaces are limited!
Camp SUMFUN was enjoyed by over 700 campers last summer. During camp they visited the Yorktown, Fire Museum, Riverfront Park, Water Parks, and the swimming pool. Boeing's educational program came out to the camp sites and the campers got to build paper airplanes. The campers also enjoyed Cultural Arts and Girl Scouts. Camps were visited by representatives from our local libraries and participated in the libraries summer reading program. Campers enjoyed swimming, arts and crafts, and sports activities and participated in Operation Safe Summer activities. Please mark your calendars and plan to register for Camp SUMFUN early next year. Winter Pool Pass
The winter pool pass is now available for purchase at the Armory. For residents the cost is $30 individual/$50 family. The cost for non-residents is double. This pass gives you unlimited access to Danny Jones during open swim from January 1 – Memorial Day weekend.
Outdoor Pools at Northwoods Park, Collins Park & Felix Pinckney Pools
All outdoor pools in North Charleston will close on Labor Day and re-open Memorial Day weekend.

North Charleston Swim Team
The North Charleston kids swim team has begun! We are offering practice for home school children Monday -Thursday from 10:00am -11:00am. An additional practice is offered 3:30pm -4:15pm Monday & Thursday Children should be at least 8 years old and able to swim the length of the pool. Water Aerobics continues to be a big hit with our seniors with some classes growing to nearly 40 in attendance. The cost is $20 per month and is offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00am and 6:00pm if you would like to join. For more information, call (843) 745-1028.
Baseball and Softball
Opening day is scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at parks throughout the city! This year there are 62 teams competing in Baseball and Softball.
Registration for Summer Basketball will be during the month of April. Summer Basketball is for ages 9-17 boys and girls. Games begin in early June and are played on weeknights. The Recreation Department provides each participant with a game shirt. The cost of registration for all team sports is $30.00 per participant and $60.00 for participants that are non-residents of the City of North Charleston.

Middle School Athletics
Middle School Soccer will begin the week of April 20th. Games will be played on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Games will be played at Doc Hursey Field and Zucker Middle School.
Track and Field
The Middle School Track and Field meet will be held April 18th at Doc Hursey Field. For registration information, please see your PE instructor at your school.

Adult Men's Industrial Basketball is underway for the Winter season at the Stereet Hall Gymnasium. Games will be played on Saturday mornings beginning at 10am. For more information, contact Cindy Dambaugh at 740-5801 or Mike Gillison at 745-1033.
The Adult Kickball program continues play at MeadWestvaco Kapstone Park. Games are played on Wednesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 6:40pm.
Adult Co-Ed Flag Football
The Adult Co-Ed Flag Football program is in action each Monday night at MeadWestvaco-Kapstone Park. Games begin at 6:30pm on the football field.
Adult Co-Ed Softball is playing on Sundays beginning at 10:00am at Lent's Field opn the Danny Jones Complex.
Men's Adult Senior Softball
The Adult Men's Senior Softball league is underway. Games are played Monday - Wednesday evenings at MeadWestvaco-Kapstone Park. Games begin at 6:45pm
The North Charleston Recreation Department has a very active Adult Tennis Program. Our team tennis program offers a variety of levels of competition and is open to men and women. Matches are played against teams across the Greater Charleston area.
The North Charleston Recreation Department offers Tennis Lessons and Clinics at the Collins Park Tennis Center on the Collins Park Complex (4115 Fellowship Road off Dorchester Road). Fees vary depending on type of lesson or clinic (group or private), Lesson Packages are available. Lessons are available for Adults and Children. Disc Golf is played on the outer 8 islands around Park Circle Monday – Sunday from dusk to dawn, continuously. Tuesday night doubles are played beginning at 6:00 pm. Registration takes place at the #1 tee box at 5:00 pm. For more information on Disc Golf, call (843) 740-5801 or (843) 745-1028.
Fly Dog Fitness
The North Charleston Recreation Department and "Fly Dog Fitness" have joined together to offer Adult Fitness programs in callaborative effort to make "North Charleston More Physically Fit"! Together we are offering the most unique, creative and exciting workouts in the area. Whether you consider yourself to be in good shape or can't remember the last time you did more physical activity required at work, we can cater to your fitness level.
We are offering you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, raise your self-esteem, and increase your social value and influence...all while getting an invigorating workout.
Classes take place for the majority on the outside; utilizing some of North Charleston's most beautiful green spaces at Park Circle, Danny Jones Complex and Riverfront Park. Morning classes meet on M,W,F (3 days a week, 12 sessions) 6:00 am - 7:00 am. Evening classes meet Mon.-Thurs. (4 days a week, 16 sessions) 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. In addition to our 6am and 6pm sessions, we offer Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am and 5 pm classes. Once you sign up for one time slot, you may attend as many different sessions in a 4 week camp as you like! Activity and Play Days
Activity and play days will be held during the CCSD Spring Break (Monday March 30th to Friday April 3rd). Selected sites will open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m. during the break. The cost of registration is $7 Resident / $12 Non-Resident per day. Sites are accepting registrations until sites are full. Late fees apply in reference to late pick-up.
Kite Competition in Conjunction with Arts Festival
To celebrate the North Charleston Arts Festival, the Afterschool Programs in partnership with CCSD Kaleidoscope and 21st Century programs within the schools will participate in a spring kite contest. We are pleased to announce that we are hosting the Afterschool Program at twelve of our community centers across the City of North Charleston. The twelve centers include Perry-Webb (formerly Accabee) Russelldale, Highland Terrace, Persephone Moultrie, Raymond Buck Miller, Northwoods Park, Ferndale, Felix Pinckney, Whipper Barony, Gethsemani, Murray Hill and the newly built, Miner Crosby, located in the Wando Woods community will also host the Afterschool Program as well. We will be able to accommodate 400 children for the 2014 – 2015 school year. While we understand that recreation is important for the physical growth of the children, we will also place emphasis on academics in order to enhance the mental growth of the children as well. Our goal is to offer a program that will enrich the development of the whole child. Step Teams in the Community Centers
The Step Team program is offered at the Afterschool Program of Northwoods Park Community Center (elementary team) and Persephone Moultrie Community Center (middle school team). The cost is $30 Resident / $60 Non-Resident. Practice for Northwoods Park are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Persephone Moultrie; unless there is preparation for an upcoming performance/competition. The team will be participating in several competitions throughout the state of South Carolina. The Double Dutch Program is offered at the Afterschool Program. Step Team- Step Masters Spring Jam

Children’s Festival will be Friday, May 1st, 2015 at Park Circle. This is a free preschool event that kicks off the beginning of Cultural Arts Week. This year Mr. Al will be performing!! The event is from 9 am – 1 pm. For more information, please call Dominique Manigault at 843.740.5807.
Join us as we "Walk the Circle" at our leisure! Log your laps inside the community center at the receptionist desk and become eligible for Incentive Prizes for walking milestones. Senior Water Aerobics
Registration for Senior Water Aerobics . Registrations are accepted at Armory Park or Park Circle. The cost is $20 a month.

ZUMBA Classes at Park Circle

Senior Line Dancing (class registration is continuous)
Each Monday morning at Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle. Class time is 9:30 am - 11:00 am. Classes in December will be held at Armory Park due to Christmas Festivities at Park Circle.
This very low impact senior exercise class meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle. Class time is 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

Pitch, Hit and Run
This program allows young athletes to showcase their individual skills in pitching, hitting and running. Local competition is tentatively schedule during April. All around winners will advance to a sectional competition. Participants must play in local league. Ages 7-8 years; Ages 9-10 years; Ages 11-12 years; Ages 13-14 years.
