Registration for Veterans to participate and received a Challenge Coin is underway. This years special guest speaker is Colonel J. Quincy Collins, USAF, Ret. The event will be held at Park Circle on November 11, 2015. This event begins promptly at 10:3oam. Please remember that a section of Park Circle closes to vehicle traffic. Afterschool Registration has started and will resume until all afterschool community center sites are full to capacity. Academic enrichment and recreational activities are being offered during the 2015-2016 afterschool program year. New this year for all afterschool sites is the supper program offered by the Lowcountry Food Bank.

Veterans Day Contest
The Afterschool Programs in partnership with CCSD Kaleidoscope and 21 Century programs will participate in the Veteran’s Day poster board and essay contest. All contest entries will be displayed on November 11th at the Veteran’s Day celebration held at the Felix C. Davis Community Center, Park Circle
High School Swimming
The high school swim teams have kicked off their fall. The Danny Jones pool is once again be the main training facility for all the athletes on Academic Magnet and Stall.
Outdoor Pool Facilities
Outdoor pools at Collins Park, Felix Pinckney, and Northwoods Park will close for the winter season on September 7. Outdoor Pools will re-open Memorial Day Weekend 2016.
North Charleston Swim Team
The North Charleston Swim Team has begun! We have 40 registered athletes. Practices will be offered on M-F from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM. Our athletes will have their first meet on October 3rd at the LTP pool in Mount Pleasant, SC. For more information regarding our swim team please contact Doug Fetchen at 843-745-1028.
Fall Baseball and Softball
Fall Baseball and Softball continues play throughout the Lowcountry. North Charleston teams comprised of ages 9 & up are competing in the Lowcountry League where they face teams from Mt. Pleasant, City of Charleston, Hanahan, Monck Corner, St. Paul and Goose Creek.
Bernie Varnadore Memorial Baseball Tournament and the CAPS Baseball Tournament
North Charleston will also be hosting the Bernie Varnadore Tournament that will be held on October 8-11th. The Recreation Department will also be hosting the second annual CAPs (Cops Athletic Programs) baseball tournament. That tournament will be held at Pepperhill, Wescott and Westvaco Parks on October 23-25.
Fall Football and Cheerleading
The Football continues play at Doc Hursey Field and Pepperhill Park. This year North Charleston have included games with Hanahan, Johns Island and Goose Creek in their regular season schedule. Cheerleaders also took part in this year jamboree festivities as they entertained the crowd with their cheers and dance routines. This year has produce one of the biggest cheerleading squads at each park with teams ranging between 20-40 participants.
Fall Soccer continues play throughout the city. This year we have 27 teams competing, ranging in ages 4-14.
October marks the month for Winter Basketball Registrations. Parents will be able to visit anyone of our sites or to go online to register their kids. Site registrations include: Armory Park, Felix C. Davis Community Center @ Park Circle, Gethsemani Community Center, Jeanene Batten Community Center, North Charleston City Hall Recreation Office, Northwoods Park Gymnasium, Perry Webb Community Center and Wescott Park. Registration is $30 ($60 Non-Residents) and it includes game jersey and shorts. In order to register online visit our website at northcharleston.org.
Middle School Athletics
The Middle School Football Season will continue playing each Wednesday during the month October. Middle School Football games are played at 5:30pm and 7:00pm.
The Middle School Volleyball League will play their games Mondays through Thursdays throughout the season.

The Adult Kickball continues the summer season in at MeadWestvaco Kapstone Park. Games are played on Wednesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 6:40pm.
Adult Co-Ed Softball summer season is underway each Sunday beginning at 10:00am at Murray Hill Field on the Danny Jones Complex.
Men's Senior Softball
The North Charleston Recreation Department is offering Men's Senior Softball in the Fall. Men must be 50+ years of age. Adult Dodgeball will pick up mid-season with a facility change. Dodgeball will be played on Wednesdays at the Danny Jones Roller Hockey Court. Games start at 6:45pm

Adult Co-Ed Basketball will pick up mid-season with a facility change. Co-Ed Basketball will be played on Wednesdays at the Danny Jones Gym and the Ferndale Gym. Games start at 7:00pm
Adult Co-Ed Volleyball
Adult Co-Ed Volleyball will pick up mid-season with a facility change. Co-Ed Volleyball will be played on Mondays at the Northwoods Park Gymnasium and the Ferndale Gymnasium at the Danny Jones Gym and the Ferndale Gym. Games start at 7:00pm.
The North Charleston Recreation Department has a very active Adult Tennis Program. Our team tennis program offers a variety of levels of competition and is open to men and women. Matches are played against teams across the Greater Charleston area.
The North Charleston Recreation Department offers Tennis Lessons and Clinics at the Collins Park Tennis Center on the Collins Park Complex (4115 Fellowship Road off Dorchester Road). Fees vary depending on type of lesson or clinic (group or private), Lesson Packages are available. Lessons are available for Adults and Children. The North Charleston Recreation Department and "Fly Dog Fitness" have joined together to offer Adult Fitness programs in collaborative effort to make "North Charleston More Physically Fit"! Together we are offering the most unique, creative and exciting workouts in the area. Whether you consider yourself to be in good shape or can't remember the last time you did more physical activity required at work, we can cater to your fitness level.
We are offering you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, raise your self-esteem, and increase your social value and influence...all while getting an invigorating workout.
Classes take place for the majority on the outside; utilizing some of North Charleston's most beautiful green spaces at Park Circle, Danny Jones Complex and Riverfront Park. Morning classes meet on M,W,F (3 days a week, 12 sessions) 6:00 am - 7:00 am. Evening classes meet Mon.-Thurs. (4 days a week, 16 sessions) 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. In addition to our 6am and 6pm sessions, we offer Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am and 5 pm classes. Pitch, Hit and Run
This program allows young athletes to showcase their individual skills in pitching, hitting and running. Local competition is tentatively schedule during April. All around winners will advance to a sectional competition. Participants must play in local league. Ages 7-8 years; Ages 9-10 years; Ages 11-12 years; Ages 13-14 years.
