Farmer's Market

Grab your re-usable shopping bags for a visit to the North Charleston Farmers Market!  The 2018 North Charleston Farmers Market continues every Thursday through October 25 from 3pm - 7pm at Felix C Davis Community Center, 4800 Park Circle.  The market offers an abundance of fresh, locally grown produce, and features art & craft vendors, food trucks, specialty foods, kid's activities, and entertainment.  Enjoy live music by local entertainers during each market from 5pm-7pm.

Outdoor Pools OPEN for the Summer

Our outdoor swimming pools at Collins Park, Felix Pinckney, and Northwoods Park are open seven days a week to the public for open/lap swim starting Monday, June 4. The cost is $1 per swimmer. 

Youth Programs

Activity and Play Days

Activity & Play Days will take place August 6 – 10, 2018 and August 13 – 17, 2018 at the following sites:

  • Felix Pinckney
  • Gethsemani
  • Highland Terrace
  • Miner Crosby
  • Northwoods Park
  • Persephone Moultrie
  • Russelldale

The cost is $7.00 per day for residents and $12.00 per day for non-residents.  Campers are to bring their own lunch and snack.

Community Center Afterschool Program

Afterschool Registration will begin Monday, July 30th and continue until all afterschool community center sites are full to capacity.  The North Charleston afterschool program is designed to keep your child motivated and active afterschool while providing quality supervision and guidance.  We focus on academic enrichment and recreational activities designed to teach your child valuable leadership and life skills they can use in their everyday decision making processes.  Commitment, responsibility, socialization, creativity and physical activity are key components of the program, which ensures that children are on track to become productive citizens of society.  All afterschool sites will have the supper program offered by the Lowcountry Food Bank. City Pools

Our swimming pools at Collins Park, Danny Jones, Felix Pinckney, and Northwoods Park are open 7 days a week to the public for open/lap swim. The cost is $1 per swimmer.  Our outdoor pools will close during the week when students start heading back to school the week of August 13.

Yearly and Summer Pool Passes

New yearly (individual/family) pool passes are available for purchase during the week at the Armory across the street from the Danny Jones pool between 8:30am - 5pm.  For information, call (843) 745-1032.

Water Aerobics

Our popular year round water aerobics class continues on M/T/Th at 9:30 am for the morning session and 6:00 pm for the evening session. The cost is $20 per month. During the summer months water aerobics is held at the Felix Pinckney pool. If you have any questions feel free to stop by a class and talk to our instructor Catherine Dixon.

Youth Swim Team

Information about the City of North Charleston youth swim team season starting in September will be posted on the following website in mid-July www.watermocs.com. Athletes must be at least 6 years old and be able to swim 25 yards of free and back.

Masters Swim Team

If you would like to join the team they practice M-F at 6:00 am at the Danny Jones pool. The cost is $35 per month and the team ranges in age from 18-70. www.palmettomasters.org

Youth Athletics

Fall Sports

Registration for our Youth Cheerleading, Tackle Football, Flag Football, Soccer, Fall Baseball and Fall Softball will be taken until August 8.  Registration will be taken at Armory Park, Park Circle Community Center, Accabee Community Center, Jeanene Batten Community Center, Northwoods Park, Gethsemani Community Center, Wescott Park and City Hall Recreation offices. Practices for all fall sports will kick off in late August.

Middle School Athletics

Fall Sports

Football, Cheerleading and Volleyball registration will be held August 20 - August 31 at the following participating District 4 middle schools.

Zucker Middle
Northwoods Middle
Palmetto Scholars

Registration fee is $30.00.  Students must register and paly for their respectivce middle school.  The season will begin late September.

Adult Sports


The summer season for Co-Ed Kickball continues in August.   Games are played on Wednesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 6:35pm. To join the next league in the fall, please visit our registration site at www.charlestonssc.com.

Flag Football

The summer Adult Co-Ed Flag Football league continues play at River Oaks Complex. Games begin at 6:30pm each Monday night.  Come check out Monday Night Football in North Charleston!  For information on the fall league starting in October, visit www.charlestonssc.com.

Co-Ed Softball

The summer season for Adult Co-Ed Softball is in full swing. Games begin at 10am each Sunday morning and are played at Lent's Field.  For information on joining the fall league, visit www.charlestonssc.com.

Men's Fall Senior Softball

The Fall Senior Softball season registration is underway.  The fall league will begin in August.  Interested senior men age 50+ interested in playing, please call Marshall Goldstein at (843) 819-6917 or e-mail cdambaugh@northcharleston.org.

Adult Tennis

The North Charleston Recreation Department has a very active Adult Tennis Program. Our team tennis program offers a variety of levels of competition and is open to men and women. Matches are played against teams across the Greater Charleston area.

Tennis Clinics/Lessons

The North Charleston Recreation Department offers Tennis Lessons and Clinics at the Collins Park Tennis Center on the Collins Park Complex (4115 Fellowship Road off Dorchester Road). Fees vary depending on type of lesson or clinic (group or private), Lesson Packages are available.  Lessons are available for Adults and Children. Disc Golf

Disc Golf is played on the outer 8 islands around Park Circle Monday – Sunday from dusk to dawn, continuously.  Tuesday night doubles are played beginning at 6pm.  Registration takes place at the #1 tee box at 5:00 pm.  For more information on Disc Golf, call (843) 740-5801 or (843) 745-1028.

Fly Dog Fitness

The North Charleston Recreation Department and "Fly Dog Fitness" have joined together to offer Adult Fitness programs in collaborative effort to make "North Charleston More Physically Fit"!  Together we are offering the most unique, creative and exciting workouts in the area.  Whether you consider yourself to be in good shape or can't remember the last time you did more physical activity required at work, we can cater to your fitness level.

We are offering you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, raise your self-esteem, and increase your social value and influence...all while getting an invigorating workout.

Classes take place for the majority on the outside; utilizing some of North Charleston's most beautiful green spaces at Park Circle, Danny Jones Complex and Riverfront Park. Morning classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:30am - 6:30am; Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6am - 7am.  Evening class meets Tuesdays from 6pm - 7pm.  All levels are welcome!   For more information, visit Fly Dog Fitness on the web at www.flydogfitness.com

Pickleball 101

All Seniors are invited to come out and play the new and exciting game of PICKLEBALL, Tuesdays, Thursday and Sundays at 7pm at the Danny Jones Complex.

3 on 3 Basketball

Bring your game, bring your team and join us as we build our 3 on 3 basketball league. Individuals and teams are encouraged to register and participate.  Join us at Northwoods Gym, 8348 Greenridge Rd., Tuesday, 10:30am-12:30pm and/or Danny Jones Gym, 1455 Monitor St., Thursday, 10am-12pm

Thomas Evans CC Seniors

Chair Exercise
Chair Exercise is held each Friday at 10am.  All seniors are invited to come take part in this low impact exercise program.

Men's Coffee Gathering
Calling all Senior Men!  Join us each Wednesday morning beginning at 10am for coffee and fellowship.

Belly Dancing

Belly Dancing continues on Thursdays at 7pm, at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle.   This class is designed for all ages including seniors.

"Senior Sneakers"

Join us as we "Walk the Circle" at our leisure!  Log your laps inside the community center at the receptionist desk and become eligible for Incentive Prizes for walking milestones.  Registration is required for this FREE program.  Men and women 50+ years of age are eligible to take part.  registration is continuous!

Senior Water Aerobics

Registration for Senior Water Aerobics .  Registrations are accepted at Armory Park or Park Circle. The cost is $20 a month.

Self Defense

A Self-Defense class is now being held at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle each Thursday afternoon beginning at 5:30 p.m.  For more information, contact Belinda swindler at (843) 745-1028.

ZUMBA Classes at Park Circle

Kelli offers a Tuesday and Thursday evening class at 5:30 pm-6:30 pm.  Cost is $5 per class.  For more information, call Belinda Swindler at (843) 745-1028.

ZUMBA Gold at Thomas M. Evans, Sr. Community Center

This class is designed for Seniors and is held on Tuesday mornings.  For more information call, (843) 760-4289.

Senior Line Dancing (class registration is continuous)

Each Monday morning at Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle.  Class time is 9:30 am - 11:00 am.  Classes in December will be held at Armory Park due to Christmas Festivities at Park Circle.


This very low impact senior exercise class meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle.  Class time is 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

"JOY” Table Tennis

Monday and Wednesday, 9:30am-11:30am – Armory Park

"Joy Bocce"

Tuesday and Thursday, 10am-noon – Armory Park

"Joy Tappers" Basic Tap Lessons

 The JOY Tappers meet on Wednesdays at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle from 1:30pm - 2:30pm.

Annual Events


Pitch, Hit and Run

This program allows young athletes to showcase their individual skills in pitching, hitting and running. Local competition is tentatively schedule during April. All around winners will advance to a sectional competition. Participants must play in local league.
