Veterans Day Celebration Information
The City of North Charleston will host its annual Veterans Day tribute on Wednesday, November 11, 2016 from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm at Park Circle featuring a veteran speaker and Medal of Honor recipient Captain Flo Groberg. We ask veterans and the public to join Mayor Keith Summey and City Council in this special ceremony. Each year, over 500 veterans in attendance are honored. All veterans in attendance will be recognized and will receive a specially designed commemorative coin. North Charleston Farmers Market
is open every Thursday, at Park Circle
12noon - 6pm
The farmer’s market at Park Circle is open Thursday’s from noon to 6pm. The market offers a wide selection of local produce as well as shopping with a variety of vendors. Live entertainment is provided weekly by the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department, 4-6pm. We enjoy two hundred visitors weekly.
Afterschool Registration continues until all afterschool community center sites are full to capacity. The North Charleston afterschool program is designed to keep your child motivated and active afterschool while providing quality supervision and guidance. We focus on academic enrichment and recreational activities designed to teach your child valuable leadership and life skills they can use in their everyday decision making processes. Commitment, responsibility, socialization, creativity and physical activity are key components of the program which ensures that children are on track to become productive citizens of society. Outdoor Pools Closing for the Season
Labor Day weekend will be the final days our pools at Collins Park, Felix Pinckney, and Northwoods Park will be open for the summer. The Danny Jones pool will be closed on Sundays.

The cost is $1 per day for City of North Charleston residents to swim at any of our 4 locations. Passes are also available at the Armory for $30 individual-resident/$50 family-resident.

North Charleston Swim Club

High School Swimming
The high school swim teams kick off their new season the first week of August. The Danny Jones pool will once again be the main training facility for all the athletes from Stall High School and the reigning State Champions, Academic Magnet.
LAPS is back! Starting September 19, they will be teaching kids in the local elementary schools how to swim. This program lasts the entire year and is available at almost every school in the area.

Baseball and Softball
Teams will continue to practice with games starting play games throughout the week at Wescott Park and Pepperhill Park. There 20 teams taking part in fall league. Ages participating range from 5-14 years old.
Football and Cheerleading
Our youth football league has kicked off action. Games are played throughout the week at Pepperhill Park, Doc Hursey Field and the new facility at Military Magnet School
South Carolina State University cheerleaders will be here on October 1st to cheer with our youth cheerleaders at Pepperhill Park.
Teams continue to playing soccer at for the regular season at River Oaks Middle School. There are 31 soccer teams ages U6-U15 participating this fall.

Football and Cheerleading
The Middle School Football game are being played on Wednesday, through the month of October. The middle school football games are played on Wednesdays evening at 5:30pm and 7:00pm.
The Middle School Volleyball League are playing their games Mondays through Thursdays throughout the season.

The Senior Softball fall league is underway at MeadWestvaco-KapStone Park Games are played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:45pm.
Tuesday Morning League
The Tuesday morning Senior League is has kicked off the fall season. This league plays each Tuesday morning at MeadWestvaco-KapStone Park. All games start at 9:15 am.
All of the men are 50 – 80 years of age are eligible to participate. Interested players can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The fall season for Co-Ed Adult Kickball begins play in October. Kickball sees competitive play on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Games are played at MeadWestvaco-Kapstone Park beginning at 6:30pm.
The fall season for Adult Co-Ed Flag Football kicks off play in October. Games are played at MeadWestvaco-Kapstone Park. Games are played on Monday nights on the football field.
Co-Ed 4 v. 4 Basketball
The fall season for Adult Co-Ed 4 v. 4 Basketball begins play in October. Games are played at Danny Jones Gym and Ferndale Gym. Games are played on Wednesday nights.
The fall season for Adult Co-Ed Volleyball starts play in October. Games are played at Ferndale Gym. Games are played on Monday nights starting at 7pm,
The fall season for Adult Co-Ed Softball is upcoming . Games will be played Sunday at 10am. Due to damage from Hurricane Matthew a site has not yet been determined..

The North Charleston Recreation Department has a very active Adult Tennis Program. Our team tennis program offers a variety of levels of competition and is open to men and women. Matches are played against teams across the Greater Charleston area.
The North Charleston Recreation Department offers Tennis Lessons and Clinics at the Collins Park Tennis Center on the Collins Park Complex (4115 Fellowship Road off Dorchester Road). Fees vary depending on type of lesson or clinic (group or private), Lesson Packages are available. Lessons are available for Adults and Children. Fly Dog Fitness
The North Charleston Recreation Department and "Fly Dog Fitness" have joined together to offer Adult Fitness programs in collaborative effort to make "North Charleston More Physically Fit"! Together we are offering the most unique, creative and exciting workouts in the area. Whether you consider yourself to be in good shape or can't remember the last time you did more physical activity required at work, we can cater to your fitness level.
We are offering you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, raise your self-esteem, and increase your social value and influence...all while getting an invigorating workout.
Classes take place for the majority on the outside; utilizing some of North Charleston's most beautiful green spaces at Park Circle, Danny Jones Complex and Riverfront Park. Morning classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:30am - 6:30am; Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6:00am - 7:00am. Evening class meets Tuesdays from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. All levels are welcome! All Seniors are invited to come out and play the new and exciting game of PICKLEBALL, Tuesdays, Thursday and Sundays at 7pm at the Danny Jones Complex.
Belly Dancing continues on Thursdays at 7pm, at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle. This class is designed for all ages including seniors.
Join us as we "Walk the Circle" at our leisure! Log your laps inside the community center at the receptionist desk and become eligible for Incentive Prizes for walking milestones. Registration is required for this FREE program. Men and women 50+ years of age are eligible to take part. registration is continuous!
Senior Water Aerobics
Registration for Senior Water Aerobics . Registrations are accepted at Armory Park or Park Circle. The cost is $20 a month.

Pitch, Hit and Run
This program allows young athletes to showcase their individual skills in pitching, hitting and running. Local competition is tentatively schedule during April. All around winners will advance to a sectional competition. Participants must play in local league. Ages 7-8 years; Ages 9-10 years; Ages 11-12 years; Ages 13-14 years.
