Danny Jones Pool will be hosting 100s of athletes on swim teams from Academic Magnet, Stall, Palmetto Masters and MPSC that train there on a daily basis beginning September 14.
Water Aerobics continues to be a popular program. The cost is $20 per month and classes are offered M/T/Th at Danny Jones. The morning class is 9:00 am – 10:00 am and the evening class is 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. To register, visit Armory Park at 5000 Lackawana Boulevard across from the Danny Jones Comples. We are currently accepting registration for our Fall Sport Programs. We are registering for Tackle Football, Flag Football, Cheerleading, Soccer, Fall Baseball, and Fall Softball. Fall registration will be taken at various parks and community centers around North Charleston as well as online at the City’s website www.northcharleston.org
Middle School Athletics
The North Charleston Recreation Department is proud to partner with the middle schools in our City to provide athletic programs and activities. With the start of a new school year brings opportunities for students in the middle school to participate in a wide range of sports and other activities. It is our desire to develop and offer programs that will both enhance the student success in the classroom as well as offer them an opportunity to compete and enjoy team sports and activities.
We recognize and welcome back the following schools to the Middle School Athletic Program: Northwoods, Military Magnet, Morningside and the opening of our new middle school Jerry Zucker Middle School of Science.
Our upcoming fall sports program includes football, cheerleading and volleyball for girls. Each student will play for the school they attend.

Adult Co-Ed Flag Football is played on Monday evenings at Doc Hursey Field on the Danny Jones Complex. Games begin at 6:30pm.
Adult Senior Men’s Softball
Senior Softball is underway at MeadWestvaco Kapstone Park Monday – Wednesday evenings. Games begin at 6:45 pm. Come see some the action!
Men's Industrial Basketball
The Men's Industrial Basketball league will blaze into action on Saturday, September 6 at Sterett Hall Gym. Ten teams take part in this league from companies throughout the area.
Women's Softball League
The fall Women's Softba;; league will kick off the season on September 8 at Mead Westvaco-Kapstone Park. Games will be played on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 7:00pm.
Adult Co-Ed Kickball continues play. Games are played at MeadWestvaco Kapstone Park on Thursday evenings starting at 6:30pm.
The North Charleston Recreation Department has a very active Adult Tennis Program. Our team tennis program offers a variety of levels of competition and is open to men and women. Matches are played against teams across the Greater Charleston area.
The North Charleston Recreation Department offers Tennis Lessons and Clinics at the Collins Park Tennis Center on the Collins Park Complex (4115 Fellowship Road off Dorchester Road). Fees vary depending on type of lesson or clinic (group or private), Lesson Packages are available. Lessons are available for Adults and Children. Disc Golf is played on the outer 8 islands around Park Circle Monday – Sunday from dusk to dawn, continuously. Tuesday night doubles are played beginning at 6:00 pm. Fly Dog Fitness
The North Charleston Recreation Department and "Fly Dog Fitness" have joined together to offer Adult Fitness programs in callaborative effort to make "North Charleston More Physically Fit"! Together we are offering the most unique, creative and exciting workouts in the area. Whether you consider yourself to be in good shape or can't remember the last time you did more physical activity required at work, we can cater to your fitness level.
We are offering you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, raise your self-esteem, and increase your social value and influence...all while getting an invigorating workout.
Classes take place for the majority on the outside; utilizing some of North Charleston's most beautiful green spaces at Park Circle, Danny Jones Complex and Riverfront Park. Morning classes meet on M,W,F (3 days a week, 12 sessions) 6:00 am - 7:00 am. Evening classes meet Mon.-Thurs. (4 days a week, 16 sessions) 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. In addition to our 6 am and 6 pm sessions, we offer Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am and 5 pm classes. The Step Team program is currently accepting registration applications; the middle school team is located at Persephone Moultrie community center and the elementary team is located at Northwoods Park community center. Harvest Festival will be October 25, 2014 from 4pm -8 pm, East Montague Ave. The kid's zone will be open 4pm - 6:30 pm. There will be fun games, face painting and inflatables in the kid's zone. Come dressed in your costume and participate in the costume contest! Fun for the entire family!
"Baby Boomers and Beyond" Health and Awareness Expo
In partnership with The 50 plus Connection this event will be held at the Felix Davis CommunityCenter on Saturday, September 27th.
Haro Jun, a certified yoga instructor and participant in our Monday line dancing class is now offering “wake up” yoga from 8:30-9am on Monday mornings. Line dancers and others are invited to participate. There is no charge for the class.
Join us as we "Walk the Circle" at our leisure! Log your laps inside the community center at the receptionist desk and become eligible for Incentive Prizes for walking milestones. Registration is required for this FREE program. Men and women 50+ years of age are eligible to take part. registration is continuous!
Senior Water Aerobics
Registration for Senior Water Aerobics . Registrations are accepted at Armory Park or Park Circle. The cost is $20 a month.
Bellyfit, a class that focuses on stomach fitness with a belly dancing influence will be held every Monday at Park Circle beginning at 6:00pm.

ZUMBA Classes at Park Circle

Pitch, Hit and Run
This program allows young athletes to showcase their individual skills in pitching, hitting and running. Local competition is tentatively schedule during April. All around winners will advance to a sectional competition. Participants must play in local league. Ages 7-8 years; Ages 9-10 years; Ages 11-12 years; Ages 13-14 years.
