Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

Swim Lessons

The last few spots for swim lessons this summer are going fast.  The cost is $30 residents/$60 non-residents per child/per session.  Contact the Armory 745-1032 for availability at Danny Jones or the Northwoods office 572-5410 for openings at that facility.  Session III will be offered from July 21 – August 6.

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics continues to be popular with our seniors. The cost is $20 per month and the class meets on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Call 745-1032 for registration information.

Youth Athletics 

Baseball/Softball

North Charleston Recreation 11/12 All-Star Softball team will be playing in Hanahan in the District Tournament. Our 11/12 Dixie Boys are participating in the District Tournament in Beaufort. Our 9/10 Dixie Boys teams (Wescott & Park Circle/Northwoods) will be participating in the District Tournament held at our very own Wescott Park the week of July 7th.

Football

Registration for Youth Football Program began on July 1st and concludes July 31st (with the exception of July 4th which is recognized as a national holiday). Practices will begin on August 25th with the first week of practice being non-contact. Jamboree is schedule to be held on September 20th.

Soccer

Soccer registration was also held the entire month of July (minus July 4th). Practices will begin September 1st and the Jamboree is scheduled to be held on September 27th.

Fall Baseball and Softball

Registration for Fall Baseball / Softball is during the entire month of July (minus July 4th). Practices will begin the week of August 25th and games will begin the week of September 15th.

Middle School Athletics

Volleyball

The Middle School Athletic Division will be hosting a Volleyball Camp at River Oaks Middle School, July 21-25. 
Cost:  $50.00 for the first child and $40.00 for additional siblings.

Adult Sports

Flag Football

Adult Co-Ed Flag Football is played on Monday evenings at Doc Hursey Field on the Danny Jones Complex.  Games begin at 6:30pm.

Adult Senior Men’s Softball

Softball continues play at MeadWestvaco Kapstone Park Monday – Wednesday evenings.  Games begin at 6:45 pm.

Adult Kickball

Adult Kickball  continues play.  Games are played at MeadWestvaco Kapstone Park on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Adult Co-Ed Softball

Adult Co-Ed Softball will be played at Lent’s Field located behind the Danny Jones Gymnasium beginning at 4:30 pm each Sunday.

Men's Basketball

Adult Tennis

The North Charleston Recreation Department has a very active Adult Tennis Program. Our team tennis program offers a variety of levels of competition and is open to men and women. Matches are played against teams across the Greater Charleston area.

Tennis Clinics/Lessons

The North Charleston Recreation Department offers Tennis Lessons and Clinics at the Collins Park Tennis Center on the Collins Park Complex (4115 Fellowship Road off Dorchester Road). Fees vary depending on type of lesson or clinic (group or private), Lesson Packages are available.  Lessons are available for Adults and Children. Disc Golf

Disc Golf is played on the outer 8 islands around Park Circle Monday – Sunday from dusk to dawn, continuously.  Tuesday night doubles are played beginning at 6:00 pm.  Registration takes place at the #1 tee box at 5:00 pm.  For more information on Disc Golf, call (843) 740-5801 or e-mail Jonas Card at CDGC@bellsouth.net

Fly Dog Fitness

The North Charleston Recreation Department and "Fly Dog Fitness" have joined together to offer Adult Fitness programs in callaborative effort to make "North Charleston More Physically Fit"!  Together we are offering the most unique, creative and exciting workouts in the area.  Whether you consider yourself to be in good shape or can't remember the last time you did more physical activity required at work, we can cater to your fitness level.

We are offering you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, raise your self-esteem, and increase your social value and influence...all while getting an invigorating workout.

Classes take place for the majority on the outside; utilizing some of North Charleston's most beautiful green spaces at Park Circle, Danny Jones Complex and Riverfront Park. Morning classes meet on M,W,F (3 days a week, 12 sessions) 6:00 am - 7:00 am.  Evening classes meet Mon.-Thurs. Tennis Camp

Tennis Camp registration is now open! Camp will be July 28th through August 1st 9am until noon.  Please register.  Tennis Camp is for children 6-10.  Tennis Pro, Glenn Cobb, will be leading tennis camp.

Double Dutch

Congratulations!  42 members of the Double Dutch team qualified for the World Competition to be held in Sumter, SC.   We wish the jumpers good luck at the competition

Senior Programs

Wake-Up Yoga

Haro Jun, a certified yoga instructor and participant in our Monday line dancing class is now offering “wake up” yoga from 8:30-9am on Monday mornings. Line dancers and others are invited to participate. There is no charge for the class.

"Senior Sneakers"

Join us as we "Walk the Circle" at our leisure!  Log your laps inside the community center at the receptionist desk and become eligible for Incentive Prizes for walking milestones.  Registration is required for this FREE program.  Men and women 50+ years of age are eligible to take part.  registration is continuous!

Senior Water Aerobics

Registration for Senior Water Aerobics .  Registrations are accepted at Armory Park or Park Circle. The cost is $20 a month.

Bellyfit

Bellyfit, a class that focuses on stomach fitness with a belly dancing influence will be held every Monday at Park Circle beginning at 6:00pm.

Self Defense

A Self-Defense class is now being held at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle each Thursday afternoon beginning at 5:30 p.m.  For more information, contact Belinda swindler at (843) 745-1028.

ZUMBA Classes at Park Circle

Kelli offers a Tuesday and Thursday evening class at 5:30 pm-6:30 pm.  Cost is $5 per class.  For more information, call Belinda Swindler at (843) 745-1028.

ZUMBA Gold at Thomas M. Evans, Sr. Communtiy Center

This class is designed for Seniors and is held on Tuesday mornings.  For more information call, 760-4289.

Senior Line Dancing (class registration is continuous)

Each Monday morning at Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle.  Class time is 9:30 am - 11:00 am.

Seniorcize

This very low impact senior exercise class meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle.  Class time is 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

"JOY” Table Tennis

Monday and Wednesday, 9:30am-11:30am – Armory Park

"Joy Bocce"

Youth

Pitch, Hit and Run

This program allows young athletes to showcase their individual skills in pitching, hitting and running. Local competition is tentatively schedule during April. All around winners will advance to a sectional competition. Participants must play in local league.
