Happening In January 2017
Afterschool Registration continues until all afterschool community center sites are full to capacity. The North Charleston afterschool program is designed to keep your child motivated and active afterschool while providing quality supervision and guidance. We focus on academic enrichment and recreational activities designed to teach your child valuable leadership and life skills they can use in their everyday decision making processes. Commitment, responsibility, socialization, creativity and physical activity are key components of the program which ensures that children are on track to become productive citizens of society. Summer Camp Registration
The City of North Charleston Recreation Department’s 2017 Summer Camp registration begins on Monday, February 1, 2017. Summer camp is for children between the ages of 5-12 years old, as of May 31, 2017. in 2017, there will be 19 camp sites locations.
Registration will be available at the following locations:

Felix C. Davis Community Center at Park Circle- 4800 Park Circle
Felix Pinckney Community Center- 4790 Hassell Avenue
Gethsemani Community Center- 2449 Beacon Street

You may also register online at www.northcharleston.org (A fee will apply). Northwoods Park Camp will not be available for online registration. Registration will end when camps are full. Sites fill up quickly so you are encouraged not to wait. Camp runs from June 15 - August 4 from 7:30am to 5:30pm. A late fee will be charged for campers that are picked up after 5:30pm. The cost of Summer Camp is 275.00 for city residents and 250.00 for each additional sibling. The cost for non-residents is 400.00 and 375.00 for each additional sibling. Rates are for entire summer camp and includes breakfast, lunch, all activities and field trips. To register, you must bring a current South Carolina issued driver’s license or South Carolina issued identification card, a current utility bill, and birth certificate. Winter Pool Pass
The winter pool pass is now available for purchase at Armory Park. For residents the cost is 30.00 for an individual or 50.00 family for a family residing in the same household. The cost for non-residents is 60.00 for an individual or 100.00 for a family residing in the same household. This pass gives you unlimited access to Danny Jones during open swim hours from January 1 – Memorial Day weekend.
Special Olympics Swim Team Practice
Once again this January, Danny Jones will be hosting swim team practice once a week for area residents practicing for the Special Olympics state meet later this spring.

Opening day is scheduled for January 7, 2017 at Northwoods Park, River Oaks Middle School and North Charleston High School gyms. Teams will also be taking pictures on this day. Regular season games will be played starting January 9 at Danny Jones, Ferndale, Northwoods Park, River Oaks Middle School and North Charleston High School. We are also playing with Hanahan Recreation Department and St. Andrews PArks and Playground Commission with our 9/10-11/12 girls and 13/14 boys teams. This year we will have 82 teams ranging in ages 4-17 years old, both boys and girls divisions, playing winter basketball.
Spring Baseball and Softball Registration
Registration for our Spring Baseball and Softball programs will begin on January 3, 2017. Registration is the entire month of January and can be done online or at our various community centers. Baseball is for ages 4-14 years old and Softball is for children ages 4-15 years old.

Middle School Athletics
The 2017 Middle School Basketball season will tip-off January 9. Schools participating this years are Morningside Middle, Northwoods Middle, Military Magnet Academy and Zucker Middle Schools.

The fall season for Co-Ed Adult Kickball is underway. Kickball sees competitive play on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and on Tuesday and Thursday at Wescott Park. Games are begin at 6:30pm.
The fall season for Adult Co-Ed Flag Football continues play. Games are played at the Pepperhill Park on Monday nights.
The fall season for Adult Co-Ed Softball continues play . Games will be played Sunday at 10am. Games are played Murray Hill Park.

The North Charleston Recreation Department has a very active Adult Tennis Program. Our team tennis program offers a variety of levels of competition and is open to men and women. Matches are played against teams across the Greater Charleston area.
The North Charleston Recreation Department offers Tennis Lessons and Clinics at the Collins Park Tennis Center on the Collins Park Complex (4115 Fellowship Road off Dorchester Road). Fees vary depending on type of lesson or clinic (group or private), Lesson Packages are available. Lessons are available for Adults and Children. Fly Dog Fitness
The North Charleston Recreation Department and "Fly Dog Fitness" have joined together to offer Adult Fitness programs in collaborative effort to make "North Charleston More Physically Fit"! Together we are offering the most unique, creative and exciting workouts in the area. Whether you consider yourself to be in good shape or can't remember the last time you did more physical activity required at work, we can cater to your fitness level.
We are offering you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, raise your self-esteem, and increase your social value and influence...all while getting an invigorating workout.
Classes take place for the majority on the outside; utilizing some of North Charleston's most beautiful green spaces at Park Circle, Danny Jones Complex and Riverfront Park. Morning classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:30am - 6:30am; Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6am - 7am. Evening class meets Tuesdays from 6pm - 7pm. All levels are welcome! All Seniors are invited to come out and play the new and exciting game of PICKLEBALL, Tuesdays, Thursday and Sundays at 7pm at the Danny Jones Complex.
Belly Dancing continues on Thursdays at 7pm, at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle. This class is designed for all ages including seniors.
Join us as we "Walk the Circle" at our leisure! Log your laps inside the community center at the receptionist desk and become eligible for Incentive Prizes for walking milestones. Registration is required for this FREE program. Men and women 50+ years of age are eligible to take part. registration is continuous!
Senior Water Aerobics
Registration for Senior Water Aerobics . Registrations are accepted at Armory Park or Park Circle. The cost is $20 a month.

Senior Line Dancing (class registration is continuous)
Each Monday morning at Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle. Class time is 9:30 am - 11:00 am. Classes in December will be held at Armory Park due to Christmas Festivities at Park Circle.

Pitch, Hit and Run
This program allows young athletes to showcase their individual skills in pitching, hitting and running. Local competition is tentatively schedule during April. All around winners will advance to a sectional competition. Participants must play in local league. Ages 7-8 years; Ages 9-10 years; Ages 11-12 years; Ages 13-14 years.
