Citizen's Advisory Council

The Citizen's Advisory Council (CAC) was established by City Council to serve as the office of citizen affairs. The purpose is to assist in resolving citizen grievances, alert the Mayor and Council of community problems, recommend and present new and progressive ideas, accept by-laws from neighborhood councils, and promote civic pride and community goals.

CAC meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the 2nd Floor Conference Room at North Charleston City Hall. For more information call the Mayor's Office at (843) 740-2504.

The CAC is compiled of representatives from all ethnic, socioeconomic, and geographic interests existing in the City. Each shall be a registered voter and shall be a resident of the City of North Charleston. No City employee shall serve on the CAC. All are appointed by City Council upon the following recommendations:

  • One from each neighborhood council
  • One appointment from each council district
  • Remaining members are appointed at-large by the recommendation of the Mayor.

CAC benefits include having a direct pipeline to the Mayor's Office, assistance for your neighborhood, and ability to participate in CAC Committees. You may apply for appointment by sending a letter with the name, neighborhood organization, address, and phone number of your representative to:
