Keep North Charleston Beautiful implemented the Flowerscape Program on February 14, 2007. On Valentine's Day, fifty red Knock-Out Roses were planted at the intersection of Rivers Avenue and Ashley Phosphate Road. The goal of the Flowerscape Program is to plant colorful gardens in highly traveled locations that will positively impact the North Charleston community.
The program has grown so that we now have four Flowerscape locations. There are two types of Flowerscapes available. The first type is a Flowerscape that is maintained by a landscape maintenance company. The second type is a Flowerscape that is maintained by a volunteer group. The Flowerscapes that are maintained by contracted labor are those that are on highly traveled roadways. The Flowerscapes that are sponsored by volunteer groups are located in City parks. Each Flowerscape and its sponsor are recognized by a sign placed within the garden.
