Palmetto Masters' historical performance in national swim meet

The Palmetto Masters National Team competed this past weekend in the 2014 US Masters Swimming Summer National Championship with a historical performance.  The national swim meet was held in College Park, Maryland with over 1,000 swimmers entered into the competition.

With only six swimmers, the Palmetto Masters Swim team finished 14th out of 195 teams in 37 overall events.  Competing was Jay Brzezinski, Ebby deHerder, Jamie Wilson, Kari Yocum, Erin Moro, and Mike Malik.  The women's team finished 7th overall (with only 4 women)

Performance highlights include:

  • 9 National titles were won (2 were the women's relays-all others were individual)
  • 19 South Carolina state records were broken (some dating back as far as 1987)
  • 2 Dixie Zone records were broken
  • Swimmers placed in 36 out of 37 events.

 

Harvest Festival and Block Party

October 25 on East Montague from 4pm until after dark, the Harvest Festival and Block Party features live musical performances, art and craft booths, costume contests and children's activities.
