2/5/2016: The North Charleston Police Department will offer three “Online Exchange Zones where North Charleston residents can meet to conduct online buy/sell transactions. The designated “Online Exchange Zones” will be under 24 hour video surveillance.

2/3/2016: For his efforts to go above and beyond his duties for the betterment of the fire department, Firefighter Robert Howlett has been named the NCFD's October Employee of the Month.

North Charleston to Host Free Concert by USAF Heritage Brass Ensemble

1/28/2016: The City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department is proud to host a free evening concert by the United States Air Force Heritage of America Brass Ensemble at 7:00pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at the Lightsey Chapel Auditorium at Charleston Southern University. Admission is free, but a ticket is required. Tickets available via the Cultural Arts Dept.

Entries Sought for Statewide Juried Fine Craft Competition & Exhibition

1/26/2016: Applications are now being accepted for the 15th annual South Carolina Palmetto Hands Juried Fine Craft Competition and Exhibition. SC artists accepted into the show may compete for cash prizes totaling up to $6500. Application deadline is Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

North Charleston Presents Children’s Theatre Performance in honor of Black History Month

1/25/2016: A Children’s Theatre performance in recognition of Black History Month is set for Friday, February 5, 2016, featuring "Let It Shine: The American Civil Rights Movement" performed by Bright Star Touring Theatre. The program is best appreciated by audiences in grades 3 to adult. Tickets are $2 per child with accompanying adults admitted at no charge. Parking is free.

North Charleston Dinner Theatre Series Goes Vintage on February 5

1/19/2016: Another dinner theatre performance in North Charleston is set for Friday, February 5, with "Puttin’ on the Ritz" presented by Gracie and Lacy. Tickets are $40 per person. Group discounts are offered for parties of four or more. Ticket price includes dinner, play, and gratuity. Tickets for just the play can be purchased for $10. Parking is free. A cash-only bar will be available. To purchase tickets, contact Pam Smith at 843-740-5847 by Tuesday, February 2.

North Charleston to swear in Mayor and new City Council

1/4/2016: The swearing in ceremony on January 5 follows the November 3 municipal elections for Mayor and all ten City Council seats.

Works by City's Artist-in-Residence Daryle Halbert on view throughout January

12/23/2015: Works by the City’s current Artist-in-Residence, Daryle Halbert will on display at the North Charleston City Gallery January 2-31, 2016. Free public reception from 5-7pm on Thursday, Janaury 7.

African American Fiber Artists Sought for Special Exhibition in North Charleston

12/4/2015: African American artists, ages 18 and up, working in fiber and living in the United States, Mexico, or Canada, are invited to participate in the 10th Annual African American Fiber Art Exhibition, titled A Piece of Peace.
