Folly Beach
"The edge of North America" is a phrase frequently used to describe Folly Beach. Here on the island a relaxed atmosphere prevails. The island is a perfect place to enjoy surfing, crabbing or fishing. The Folly pier is the longest in South Carolina and boasts a fabulous restaurant called the Starfish Grille. A stroll down the pier before or after dinner allows diners to witness a pier fisherman pull in his catch. The island has a small but devoted group of year round residents. Many houses found on the island are available for vacation rental.

Isle of Palms
The seven miles of beaches found on the Isle of Palms are easily reached from North Charleston via 526 and the Isle of Palms Connector. The island has been a vacation site for tourists since the nineteenth century and contains the exclusive Wild Dunes Resort. Golf, tennis and fishing are among the main recreational activities found on the island. Wild Dunes Resort boasts two golf courses, several pool complexes and a marina. The Isle of Palms has many restaurants that- provide excellent venues for water front dining. Most of the homes on the island are new due to the mass destruction caused by the 1989 Hurricane Hug o and are available for vacation rental.

John's Island
This rural and primarily undeveloped island is home to many of Charleston's farms that supply the city with its fresh vegetables and flowers. The island is surrounded by the Bohicket and the Stono Rivers. Outdoor enthusiasts have turned John's Island into a coveted area due to the deep-water access and untouched land. As you pass through John's Island on the way to one of the west island resorts, you will notice the vegetable and sweet grass basket stands that line Bohicket road. These stands sell a variety of items homemade or grown by local islanders.

Kiawah Island
A neighboring island to Seabrook, Kiawah is also a private beach community. The Island was host to the 1991 Ryder Cup Golf and the 1997 World Cup of Golf, on the famous Ocean Course. Besides the Ocean Course, Kiawah features three other championship courses, and its tennis facility is ranked among the top fifty in the country. Night Heron Park, Kiawah's recreation facility, provides guest and residents with 21 acres of athletic fields, picnic areas and a pool complex. A leisurely stroll can be enjoyed along the island's 10-mile beach. Nature lovers will enjoy the 18 miles of trails perfect for a bike ride, jog or walk. The Bohicket Marina is located between Kiawah and Seabrook.

Seabrook Island
Seabrook Island is a private island community owned by its property owners association. The island residences range from a one-bedroom condominium to exclusive beachfront homes with over nine hundred residents living on the island year round. Seabrook features championship golf, tennis and equestrian facilities as well as three and a half miles of beach, two pools and two restaurants. Nearby is the Bohicket Marina - home to exclusive boutiques, culinary delights and a 300-slip marina that holds sailboats, motor yachts, fishing boats and charter boats. Also close to Seabrook Island is Hope Plantation a golf community that surrounds a beautiful marsh front course.

Sullivan's Island
Across Breach Inlet from Isle of Palms is Sullivan's Island. A delightful breeze from the ocean originally attracted peninsular residents to the island during the summer months to avoid mosquitoes and illness. Today Sullivan's Island remains a popular spot for peninsular residents to live during the summer. The island is also the site of the famous Fort Moultrie, which was used during the Revolutionary War, the Civil War and up to World War II. Today the fort is used as a museum. The quaint Middle Street of the island has several fun restaurants and lends the island a sense of an "old-fashioned neighborhood". A large recreation area provides residents and visitors tennis courts, basketball courts, a gazebo and a playground to enjoy.
