- North Charleston area is home to several highly acclaimed "magnet" schools, including Garrett Academy of Technology, a state-of-the-art technical high school, Charleston County School of the Arts, a middle/high school specializing in the performing and visual arts, and The Academic Magnet High School, a top rated high school in the State.
- North Charleston higher learning institutions include:
- Trident Technical College - a public two year institution for practical, marketable job skills - diversified, comprehensive and updated technical programs. In addition to vocational and technical education, Trident provides special industrial training through the Special Schools Division of The State Board for Technical Education. This division is prepared to train workers for industry locating to South Carolina, at no cost to the manufacturer.
