The NCFD has a long and proud history of serving the people of the “North Area” since 1937. The role of the fire service has expanded in the 21st century to include emergency response to all hazards as well as proactive prevention initiatives through direct community involvement. The NCFD meets these broadened expectations through strategic planning, cooperation with other agencies and through continuous professional development.
Our department includes a diverse group of 220 men and women who serve with dedication and professionalism. Members at every level of our organization are empowered to come up with innovative ways to better serve the residents and visitors of our great City. I encourage you to take advantage of the many prevention and education services that our department provides. Biography:
Chief Gregory A. Bulanow, MS, EFO, CFO has served with the North Charleston Fire Department since 1996. He has risen through the ranks from recruit Firefighter to Chief of the Department. Chief Bulanow holds a Master’s Degree in Management from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC. He is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD. He has achieved professional credentialing as a Chief Fire Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence in Chantilly, VA.
