Under the leadership of Belinda Swindler, the North Charleston Senior Citizens groups will continue to offer existing programs and also offer a variety of new and exciting activities and opprtunities to the "JOY, 'Just Older Youth' " of our city.

Senior Choir, Horseshoes, Bocci, Card Sharks, Golf, Bingo, Walking Club, Shuffleboard, Bowling, Water Exercise, Ceramics, Dominos, Billiards.

The North Charleston Recreation Department currently operates eight chapters throughout the City of North Charleston:

Red Hat Ladies
This is a group of ladies 60 years of age and older. The ladies meet the 2nd Monday of the month at Park Circle at 1:00 p.m. All ladies must wear a purple outfit and a red hat. Special group activities are planned for the ladies. This is a great opportunity for senior women to enjoy fellowship and make new friends. For more information, call (843) 745-1028.

China Painting
China Painting classes are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at Park Circle beginning at 12:00 p.m. Participants paint on china tiles. There is no fee for the class but participants must pay for their supplies. For more information, call (843) 745-1028.

 Seniorcize
The City of North Charleston currently offers two senior exercise classes in North Charleston:

• Park Circle - Felix C. Davis Community Center
  Tuesdays & Thursdays: 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
• Murray Hill - Murray Hill Community Center
  Mondays & Wednesdays: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Line Dancing
The Senior Line Dancing program is one of the fastest growing programs in North Charleston. Under the direction of Mr. Merrill Ridgeway, these seniors stay physically fit. The "North Charleston Bootstompers" have made numerous public appearances throughout the Low Country and are available to entertain at nursing homes and other events. To be a part of this extraordinary program, call (843) 745-1028 or stop by Park Circle on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. and join the action.

Men's Senior Adult Softball
The North Charleston Recreation Department is affiliated with the Lowcountry Senior Softball Association. Men ages 50 years and older who are interested in participating in both recreational softball and competitive softball are encourage to take part in this wonderful program. Luncheons
The City of North Charleston sponsors two luncheons a year for seniors in May and November (3rd Wednesday of each month). These luncheons are for all seniors who take part in one of our local chapters. The recreation department provides entertainment as well as guest speakers at the luncheons. Senior Trips
All North Charleston Chapters are eligible for day trips. Our Seniors look forward to exciting day trips to the South Carolina State Fair, Swan Lake-Sumter, SC, Old Santee State Park-Moncks Corner, SC, Charleston Harbor Cruise, Columbia Zoo etc.  For more information, call (843) 745-1028.
