The North Charleston Recreation Department offers American Red Cross Swimming Lessons, Aquatics Exercise Class, Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Classes, Lap Swimming and Recreation Public Swimming.

During the summer months three sessions of aquatic programs are offered. These dates vary from summer to summer depending on the public school calendar.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING

  The North Charleston Recreation Department is now accepting applications for  summer Lifeguards. 

Applications can be picked-up at the Felix C. Davis Community Center on Park Circle.  Applications should be returned in a timely manner.

 QUALIFICATIONS

15-years old

Must be able to swim 500 yards

Must know 3 strokes - crawl, breast and elementary back.

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding program provides lifeguards with skills and knowledge necessary to keep patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around the water.  The program includes a lifeguard training course with aquatic-specific first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. This class is designed to last about 30 hours and will consist of both classroom and water time. It is imperative that you are in excellent physical condition to take this class.

 Cost of Classes $50.00 plus cost of books
