The Executive Department's diversified staff includes the Office of the Mayor, Economic Development, Ombudsman, Grants Coordinator, Annexation Coordinator, the Office on Education, Youth, and Family, the Office on Aging, Tourism Coordinator, and Risk Management.
Annexations

Economic Development
This part of the Mayor's Office will assist any business wishing to expand or relocate to North Charleston including coordination with other municipal and governmental agencies. For more information call (843) 740-2530 or email John Cawley.
Grants Coordinator
Numerous techniques have evolved to enable local governments to finance needed capital improvements and economic development strategies. There are numerous local, state and federal grants available for financing a large number of local programs including infrastructure, beautification projects and transportation improvements. Office on Education, Youth, and Family
This office will address the needs of schools, non-profits, churches and organizations who value the City’s assistance with events, programs and services. We will aid these organizations in coordinating their outreach efforts in combination with similar endeavors of the City. Also, this office will bring attention to the resources that are available for parents and children within the community. The City is expanding, as a part of this new initiative, afterschool programs at our 13 elementary schools. Office on Aging
The Office on Aging provides centralized access to diverse programs and individualized services for older adults, dependent adults, and their families so they can preserve their independence. Working in conjunction with the Police Department, concerns such as financial exploitation, abuse, neglect, and mental health issues are addressed to improve the quality of life of the seniors in our community. Ombudsman

Tourism Coordinator
Performs professional work in the planning, organizing, and implementing tourism and marketing programs and activities to increase public awareness of and participation in City leisure and tourism opportunities. For more information call (843) 740-2504.
Risk Management
A structured approach to managing uncertainty through risk assessment, developing strategies to manage it, and mitigation of risk using managerial resources. Taxi Cab Compliance Office
Regulates the operating procedures of taxicabs in the City of North Charleston. Effective July 1, 2009, all taxicab drivers will be required to have a Taxi Driver’s Permit and an annual taxicab inspection, in addition to a City of North Charleston Business License.
