The Cultural Arts Program was created by City Council in 1979 to plan for and support the arts and cultural activities throughout the community. The staff of the Cultural Arts Program works with a twenty-five member advisory committee composed of citizens from a cross-section of the community. Together they work to provide programs and services that enhance the quality of life for our citizens and assist in the economic development of our city as a desirable place to live and visit.

 

Call for Volunteer Musicians  Through support and encouragement from the City of North Charleston, a new community band is being organized. Area instrumental and vocal musicians looking for opportunities to train, perform, share their talents, network, and enjoy fellowship with other musicians are invited to get involved. The band will perform an array of musical styles, with the potential for development of smaller ensembles.  Assistance is being provided by the North Charleston Cultural Arts Department.  Interested musicians are asked to submit a completed Band Survey.  Contact the Cultural Arts Department at 843-745-1087 to request a survey form or download the form here.
